Should New vegas be a Continuation of Fallout 3?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 6:13 am

I kinda had to agree with my friend on his idea. I mean the brotherhood and enclave have been the stars ever since the beggining, and why should New Vegas take them out of the big picture?

I think it would be a good idea i mean common there has been continuations of the west in 3 games. They need to focus more on the north east or eat of america.

The Enclave wasn't even in Fallout 1.

The Brotherhood of Steel was avoidable in Fallout 1 and barely had a presence in Fallout 2. So no they haven't been the stars since the beginning and I am thankful that neither faction played a major role in New Vegas.

No fallout 3 made no sense
1. Enclave where destroyed in fallout 2
2. Bos only had about 1 thousand people yet they send like 1000 to dc
3. why was there fev in vault 87

enclave have been destroyed twice! If they are major in 1 more game I will never by another fallout game!

Why take them out? To avoid unnecessary repetition. BoS already had to be changed to something it was not (what's the point of using the faction if it has to be changed?), and Enclave has been destroyed twice now. I'd rather not see either in a major role again, and am glad that NV did what it did with them.

To emphasize some of the other posts in this thread:

Uh...

No

Fallout 3 threw half the lore out the window and worse is the new generation that picked it up and took it as canon.

bethesda did a great job with FO3 and i'm glad they're working on the franchise instead of some other developer, bethesda makes really good games so the franshise is in good hands.

Fallout 3 is one of my favourite games ever.

Thanks for playing, though.

Why are you Bethesda bashing.
Why was that considered bashing? Its true. They took out ? of the gameplay as well.
Not liking something (or even someone, or some group), is not the same as bashing. Its not an insult to disagree, nor is it an attack to speak the obvious.
Bethesda created a different game entirely, and branded it with the Fallout IP.

But either way your gonna have to deal with it. Because they own the rights now...
Ah... now I understand why it was considered bashing. :tops:

This is subjective stuff. Its even possible to dislike a good game, for not being the correct game. Imagine buying a fantastic looking Halo sequel, and finding out that it is a merchant sim set in covenant held territories, and while first person, does not have any fire fights. It could be a very well thought out, and polished game... but its not really the right game is it... ?

That is not Bethesda bashing it's the truth. Just because you don't like hearing something doesn't mean it's bashing. Bethesda does make great open world games but they have a tendency to ignore lore sometimes. They don't even follow the lore for The Elder Scrolls sometimes.

Yeah, since Cyrodiil was supposed to be rain forest country.

I don't really understand what you mean. I think FONV should be the Fallout 3 as in the sequel to the second and what we know as FO3 should be erased from canon. FONV is, IMO, a better game that is actually a sequel to FO1&2 rather than just stealing fractions of them and putting it on the east coast.

I love bethesda, were it not for Fallout 3 i would never have taken interest in the 2 other Fallouts. Taking the Enclave and the Brotherhood to rekindle the series makes sense to give a taste of the franchise to new players, but personally using them for any more games would be overstaying their welcome.I also hope Obsidian is allowed to make even more Fallout games, the west coast is still extremely interesting and maybe they can even borrow Chris Avellone and Josh Sawyer to kinda pitch in with some of the lore, i mean how awesome would it be to have a Fallout with a BA story and still all the awesome dungeon crawling and snazzy textures that Bethesda brings to the table.
