Should an Oblivion lover get Morrowind?

Can I just say that from the perspective of someone who has played all the Elder Scrolls games from the Arena release, it is so rewarding to see a newer gamer appreciating and persevering with the older titles? When you're used to Oblivion, starting out in Morrowind can be damn hard, and I'm not surprised a lot of people give up when they find the game is basically leaving them out in the cold. The main quest is a slow-moving mystery, not "the world is going to hell, save it now!", and it requres an awful lot of reading and piecing together (I had a whole drawer full of notes ). I think it's awesome that you're entering into this experience with such an open mind, and I hope as time goes on, you're as delighted with Morrowind as you were with Oblivion :) Happy playing!

It's good to see another person like me! :) Oblivion was my 1st game and then I tried Morrowind and that game made me wish I was a TES fan sooner :sadvaultboy: So my point is as long you are not one of those [censored] where they are like "omgoblivionhasthebestgraphicsevermorrowindisthecrapversionjgg09495690y9u0hgdg8dr89hs08h!" then Morrowind is for you. As a matter of fact, I will admit that there are some points in the game that I think the graphics and game play is better than Oblivion, but I'll stop there I don't want this thread to go off topic :b

If you like Dunmer and Dwemer lore, you'll fall deep, deep, deep in love with Morrowind. If you love TES lore and thought Oblivion rocked, you'll lose yourself in the mythical lands of Vvardenfell. Through the blighted ashlands, the wet bitter coast, the daedra-infested isles of Sheogorad... You'll fall deep in love.

The Dunmer are very likely the most deeply-written and designed race in gaming history, with countless hundreds of pages of lore devoted to their culture and existence. If you crave a deep, meaty RPG experience that will immerse you head-first into a completely foreign, yet utterly unforgettable, race/civilization, Morrowind is the game for you.

It's a hell of an experience.

As pointed out by others - Morrowind is a true RPG with all its pros and cons, compared to it Oblivion can be called an action adventure (or by ones who really hated it - arcade) game. So if you can't do a quest unless the compass tells you where to go or you hate public transport and just want to travel by point'nclick than you should reconsider getting Morrowind. But if you truly love Dunmer and are not afraid to think outside the box and come out of the lazy closet - this is a one and only chance to experience something amazing. Oh, and I wouldn't worry about graphics very much, it can still leave you breathless at times

How is Oblivion any "less" of a "true RPG" than Morrowind?
