Should orcs look more menacing?

I feel like they just looked... Droopy in Oblivion.

I think their bodies should be thicker and more muscular.

I agree, they looked almost comical in Oblivion. I think they should look dirtier and have greasy lank hair and piercings.

Along with Nords and possibly Redguards, they should be more built than the other races. Menacing? I'm not sure. Feral Orcs maybe, but I'm hoping that with the time passed Orsinium has continued to develop and become a civilizied society. Orcish politics are interesting

I think they should improve body shape and movement style more than facial features.

Every race moving and interacting the same way doesn't make me want to start a new character.

I posted my ideas concerning race body types in another thread, it went something like this:

Nords and Orc - Large, muscular, heavily-built bodies.

Khajiit and Argonians - Pretty much the same as Morrowind, but fix it up a bit.

Dunmer, Altmer, and Bosmer - Tall, thin, built like an Olympic athlete.

Imperial, Redguard, and Breton - Normal body types.

Yup.

They could be better, as long as they don't look anything like Warcraft orcs.

Orcrest is a sword in The Hobbit, the Orsinium is the Orcish city in High Rock. :P

I dont care how civilized they are, they are still orcs, and orcs should be bigger and stronger and thicker then say, a Breton with green skin and bad teeth. Nords should be even taller then represented in Oblivion and more muscular also.

Just to remind all of you, the orcs are weaker than the nords and male redguards, not to mention slower and not as agile, but make up for that by having a lot more willpower, the female orc is more intelligent, and both genders as the same endurance as male nords and the redguards as a whole. They're for taking pain, but not much heavy lifting as the two other strong races.

Yeah, that hunchback wide-as-they-are-tall look is pretty ridiculous (among WoW male Orcs).

Nords and Orc - Large, muscular, heavily-built bodies. Orcs should be slightly more built and menacing, but Nords should be taller.

Khajiit and Argonians - Pretty much the same as Morrowind, but fix it up a bit.

Altmer - Tall, thin.

Bosmer - short, thin.

Imperial, Redguard, Breton and Dunmer - Normal body types. Bretons should be slightly shorter.

Yup.

Edited to fit my taste. Though having more than one body type per race would be so much better.

Then you must love the Warhammer orcs/orkz (40K)!

Also, you guys need to remember that the Redguard are just as strong (save for F) and just as enduring as the nords (save for F nord). Heck, the two races have very similar stats.

On the subject, can we find someone other than Linda Carter to do the voices for the female orcs?

I forgot about that place too. Funny how certain names are reoccurring in many fantasy settings.

The Orcs in TES aren't like generic fantasy Orcs. Orcs are corrupted elves (and the story of how they transformed is interesting too imo), and aren't supposed to look menacing, but rather, bestial. They need to look more animalistic than they did in Oblivion, that's for sure. Protruding teeth and green skin just doesn't cut it.

But to be honest as long as I can look at a female orc and not laugh at her like I did in Oblivion, I'll be happy.

I think they should look at what Obsidian did with Super Mutants and use that body style.

I think that would be a possible valid starting point. Species need to look less humanoid like they were in Oblivion, and more like they should. Khajiit have qualities of a cat, Argonians have qualities of a lizard, etc. Lets show those qualities more and emphasize on them.

Same here. I still think the suave debonair muscular Orc Prince or King that was in TES 2 DAGGERFALL was a excellent contrast to the big hulking brutes he commanded over. Would be nice to see more approachable yet still fearsome orc lords and rulers with plenty of ugly monstrous warriors in their military.

One problem I see is that Super mutants were a creature race & not a human race to the game engine (at least that's how they were in FO3)

No, no, no. Orsimer, despite the green skin and tusks, are not Lord of the Rings orcs. They're sophisticated, intelligent, proud, and in the end, they're still elves, just uglier. I do, however, think that the Elder Scrolls series needs to revamp its body system. Much like Robert's Male Bodies for Oblivion had a slender, normal, and muscular option, only instead of choosing one of these and applying it to all races, each race would use one of the three. They wouldn't even necessarily need to make different clothing/armor models for each body type, just make a system (sort of like the existing "weight" system") where the game detects which body is in use and squashes or stretches the model accordingly.

Lol, yes
It would be nice if they wasn't all that great fighters, but very tough and hard to kill. Like a dumb, slow creature that just keep coming at you.
