Should PERKS be called FEATS instead in Skyrim?

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 11:18 pm

I agree the term "perks" is kind of modern for a fantasy game. Not game breaking, I won't mind, but a term like "specialized skills" or something would work better IMO.

Ah, semantics.

Why does it matter? And how does the term perk=scifi simply because of Fallout?

Perk=scifi because it's a modern term. I believe it's a shortened form of "perquisite."
Call them strengths or something.

Perks are rewards for your actions and skill training.

Feats are special talents an individual is able to preform

take your pick, they're generally the same thing, except one is before and another is after.

As I understand it, "feat" means something which has been done. It means past actions, which is inaccurate to describe what "perks" describe.

I hate the term Perks. Too console-y. I wouldn't know which word to use, though.

I don't like the term 'perk', but it's not really a big deal.

According to the third edition of the American Heritage College Dictionary, feat has an obsolete meaning: "A specialized skill; a knack."

"Feat
Noun, An achievement that requires great courage, skill, or strength"

That's what the oxford English on my kindle says anyway >.>

I don't care what it/they are called as long as they work well,and add to the game. Hell you could call them "bobs" or barry's" for me :)

Joking on the bobs and barry's bit.....settle down. :)
