Should we play TES while we wait?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:05 am

The question is should we play TES while we wait, or will it just make us want it more and make the wait seem longer? I will probably hold off on playing any TES games for a while, but perhaps I might succumb to playing some Fallout 3.

Why, what better way to distract yourself from an imminent title than to throw yourself wholeheartedly into one already released?

I purchased Daggerfall a little bit before it was released for free, so I've been playing it off and on since then; great fun, to be honest.
I then bought Redguard, and I must say that for a game that nearly bankrupted them, it has perhaps the best story out of any of them (it's nowhere near as non-linear as the rest, but then again, it wasn't designed to be).
And now I'm returning full-circle to Morrowind, finally having taken the time to get all the texture packs, sky replacers, and shaders I want to work in tandem. Even after all this time, the raw nostalgia and sense of all-encompassing adventure that game brings me is just amazing.

I'm taking a pass on Oblivion for a bit, because it's the most recent and is therefore the one I've played more of in the past couple of years. And while I came very close to finishing Arena some years ago, I haven't gotten up the energy to give it another try.

Here how I do thing rather then just wait it out:
If I feel like playing the past installment, I play.

If I am not playing, then I am modding/testing mods.

If I am not modding/testing mods, then I lurk here.

If I am not lurking, I am might be procrastinating on my Homework right now.

And if I done my Homework already, I sleep.

Nice system that keeps me busy.

The only thing I have played for more than a few days total this past year has been Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Now, I went back to Oblivion and will not stop playing Oblivion until either another Fallout game comes out, or TES V comes. I am not looking forward to any non-Bethesda games. I love TES more than Fallout and unless another Fallout game comes out before TES V, I will be playing the seemingly endless Oblivion until TES V comes out.

I actually stay away from a game series while I'm waiting for some kind of announcement. For me, it just makes the wait worse. The only exposure to The Elder Scrolls I get is on here. I pass the time just by enjoying other games. I'm currently playing lots of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum.

I'm not playing it while I wait, I'm playing TES games (mostly MW) because they are good games with a massive amount of replayability.

Yup. If I'm in a TES mood, I'll play Morrowind, Daggerfall, or Battlespire and Redguard (if I ever end up buying them). For the most part, I'll probably be playing other games, though.

How could you trade in an Elder Scrolls game?

I love them too. I'm playing them while I wait, as in I'm playing them because they are great and will keep playing them until TES V comes out. Then I will play TES V. I am not playing them because I am waiting though.

No, I threw Morrowind and Oblivion away not too long ago. I tend to do that with games. I'm moody. I fool myself I'm going to play Daggerfall and don't. I have no urge to play Arena, Battlespire or Redguard. Probably keep myself busy with Wind Waker and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, two most solid games of all time. Sorry Beth, you ain't on the list.

I reinstalled Oblivion a while ago, ran too many mods and didn't have the heart to start again. I was going to reinstall FO3 but wound up getting the THQ pack from steam for about $50. So now I'm playing DOW2 and Saints Row2. This will stop when New Vegas or TES5 come out. If they're working on TES5. If there's going to be a TES5

Playing TES is the answer to every problem, so yes, we should play TES while waiting for TES V... :frog:

Fyi, cheating is a really good way to make the older games bearable, and also a good way to progress through the story quickly just to see what happens. :cookie:

Oh I don't throw hissy-fits, I just do stuff like that. I'm done I'm done. I did cheat in Daggerfall, by the way. I ran and got Daedric stuff right out of the pirate lair. Oblivion and Morrowind are past their prime.

I do this for any sequel the two weeks leading up to its release: play its predecessors to get back in the mood for the game. I did it with assassin's creed, Left 4 Dead, Oblivion, Halo2, Halo3, The Splinter Cell Games, Fable 2 (I quickly returned to Fable 1 after playing through Fable 2), and Saint's Row 2.

I dont think I've ever palyed Doom (the origional doom) without cheats. Its just fun to run around shooting things. And yes many people do still play the old Doom.

Do you want to play the Elder Scrolls while you wait? That's the question you should ask. If the answer is yes then decide which one you want to play, and once you have chosen, go play whichever game it is you want to play. If the answer to the first question is no then find a different game to keep yourself occupied.

Recently, I've been playing Morrowind, because some time ago I was playing Oblivion but eventually, I found myself starting to get in the mood for Morrowind again, then my computer had problems and I had to reinstall and lost all my Oblivion saves, so it was a perfect time to start Morrowind again, I've also been playing Dragon Age: Origins and a few other games. Though I'm sure I'll stop playing both before we get any more Elder Scrolls titles and will be playing something else.

Exactly.
I personally see no reason not to play any Elder Scrolls games, because I want to (and I get a new graphics card soon :D but that's beside the point), and just because TES V comes out/gets announced, does not mean I will forget about the past games. I will keep playing Oblivion, and Morrowind, when I buy it, for as long as I want.

Yeah, man. I still get those weird chills or whatever they are when I start playing it.

I'm going to be getting Morrowind soon, so I suspect that will keep me entertained at least until TESV is announced, maybe even until it comes out.

I'm currently playing morrowind, so why not? TES games are practically built for multiple playthroughs.
