Should I purchase Skyrim?

Post » Sat Oct 15, 2011 11:31 pm

Hello forum members! I was just planning to ask a few questions about Skyrim, but let me say that the game looks amazing and blows my mind just from the YouTube footage. But, I have never played Elder Scrolls before and FO 3 and NV bored me pretty fast. I always wanted to find a fun game to roleplay on and FO seemed cook, but I hated the wasteland theme and think thats why it bored me after beating it. Skyrim looks cooler with the awesome scenery and towns unlike the desert FO. So now here are my questions...

1. What would be the best race for assassin/soldier/mage/?

2. Can anyone describe how houses work a bit? Not in full detail as the game isn't out yet, but maybe how previous ES houses worked.

3. Are ES towns usually thriving and full of actual people not FO type towns with run-down buildings?

4. How is the wilderness usually like? Is it nice with animals and etc or just walking by yourself for hours and random bandits or monsters popping out most of the time?

5. Professions?

6. How are the RP aspects usually?

Thanks for all the help. This thread will really help my decision on the purchase.

Assassin - Argonian/Khajiit/Wood Elf(Bosmer) Soldier - Imperial/Orc(Orismer) Redguard Mage - High Elf(Altmer) Breton(Manmer) Dark Elf (Dunmer)

2. Can anyone describe how houses work a bit? Not in full detail as the game isn't out yet, but maybe how previous ES houses worked. Get Money, go to the Owner/Count/Jarl of the town, Ask to buy house, if he likes you or your famous, he will let you buy it, the cost depends on the city

3. Are ES towns usually thriving and full of actual people not FO type towns with run-down buildings? There are no run-down buildings, there are citizens, there weren't many in previous TES games but there is supposed to be a lot more in Skyrim

4. How is the wilderness usually like? Is it nice with animals and etc or just walking by yourself for hours and random bandits or monsters popping out most of the time? It usually has, Deer, wolfs, bandits, trolls, Minotaur's etc......Skyrim has some new ones like, Sabretooth Tigers, guard towers, giants, mammoths etc.....

5. Professions? Assassin(Dark Brotherhood) Mage (College of Winterhold) Warrior(Companions) Thief(Thieves Guild) Guard(Imperial Legion) Rebel( Stormcloaks) Citizen, Wood cutter, miner, the list goes on.......

6. How are the RP aspects usually? Roleplaying is probably the best thing about TES, The characters, storys, quests, probably the best Roleplaying games I have ever played.

Thanks for all the help. This thread will really help my decision on the purchase.

Yeah what Talos said, except Nords make good soldiers as well.

I didn't like FO 3 or FO NV for the atmosphere too, but I totally loved Oblivion because of the atmosphere. I rushed through FO3 and NV just to finish them because seeing all those people suffering and seeing how many people were doing the wrong thing was really depressing. With Oblivion though it was pure joy just walking through the pretty saturated colors =] I beat Oblivion's main quest then went back to play all the guild quests because I liked it so much; I even played the DLCs.

Welcome to the forums. :) Have a http://images.uesp.net//c/c4/Fishystick.jpg

3. NPCs use more resources so they weren't bustling but that's supposed to be improved for Skyrim. Oblivion had wealthier, newer areas and older areas too. The wharf area in the Imperial City was older.

4. Depending on level in the wilderness, I could go for a long time and only see the deer jumping or there'd be a bear or wolf or Minotaur every 20 feet.

You won't be sorry if you get the game...I can't even imagine that.

1. What would be the best race for assassin/soldier/mage/?For Assassin, Argonians are to go-to race. A soldier would be a Nord. For a Mage, I think Breton, but they might've been nerfed.

2. Can anyone describe how houses work a bit? Not in full detail as the game isn't out yet, but maybe how previous ES houses worked. You can buy houses in any of the major 5 cities, but you can also kill people and take their houses. I think. It's not technically your house then, but hey, you can still use it.

3. Are ES towns usually thriving and full of actual people not FO type towns with run-down buildings? In Oblivion, every town member had a name and you could speak to them. I'm hoping it's nowhere near Fallout 3 and New Vegas' level of NPC interaction, that svcked [censored].

4. How is the wilderness usually like? Is it nice with animals and etc or just walking by yourself for hours and random bandits or monsters popping out most of the time? The wilderness has lots of trees and dirt. You can find some deer frolicking around too, wolves can attack you, you may find some other interesting things around in the wild as well ;)

5. Professions? I'm assuming you mean jobs or something, in which you can mine, chop down trees, and some other stuff I forgot. Sorry if I'm wrong.

6. How are the RP aspects usually? You start out with no back story besides your crossing the border and your caught. Execution, blah blah blah, escape, blah blah blah, be a murderer/assassin/mage/thief/farmer/miner/woodcuttyguy/etc. TES is all bout freedom of player choice, so they try and make the possibilities as big and open as possible.

I never really got into Fallout because of the theme, but I do love Morrowind and Oblivion. So I say: buy Skyrim!

If you had the chance, would you buy a work of art or rent it?
