Should i or should'nt i.

Hello people. I've always been a Fallout player and never tried any of The Elder Scroll's titles. Since watching a short film for Skyrim, my appetite is now wet. Would it be sensible for me to get myself Oblivion before i get Skyrim. Im heading into town very shortly, any advice would be appreciated.

Seriously mate it's gonna cost you a tenner, the amount of hours you'll get out of it will make it a worthwhile buy, it will also help you get to grips with the TES series like knowing a bit of the lore, all of the different races you can make and the gameplay mechanics, getting you ready and prepared for skyrim. If you liked the look of skyrim you'll love oblivion.

I love fallout too, I played fallout before I even knew about the TES series, I get bored with fallout but have never been bored of playing oblivion. I've probably logged 250 hours in fallout but probably have about 400 in oblivion. Not bad for £10!

Sounds worthwhile, is the area map as big as Fallouts and do you get any DLC. I know i could find all this out on the net but i prefer to know from players. If there is DLC can you get a GOTY sort of edition like FO3's.

Get a PC-based version, so you can use mods. There's a tremendous wealth of mods out there that easily dwarf what's been done for Fallout 3. Tons of new quest series, merchants, armor, weapons, etc.

Unfortunatly i don't have a pc, i play on 360. I think i'll get the anniversary edition. Thank you all for your input.

The map as far as I'm aware is bigger than fallout and that's not even including SI ( shivering isles dlc) , on 360 there's quite a few dlcs but If u get game of the year edition it will come with the 2 main dlc packages SI as already mentioned and KOTN( knights of the nine).
Also maybe worth mentioning is once you complete main quest the game doesn't end, you can continue on, I've never got round to finishing main quest yet anyway but that's something I didn't like in fallout 3, not sure if it ends in new Vegas as I didn't quite finish it ( couldn't pick who to side with and lost interest)

I'm just going to echo what everyone else has been saying- Oblivion is definitely worth it.

In answer to your other question, there is a 'Game of the Year edition' which I'm told includes all the DLC. I thought fallout was alright and I absolutely adore oblivion so I think you'll like it too. Welcome to Cyrodil! :wavey:

Oblivion will be a very nice warm up for Skyrim if you want to get in the mood.

Skyrim is looking like it will be extremely dumbed down. So if you can fix, or circumvent OB level scaling problem, it will be the better game. Or check out Morrowind, which is even better.
