Should Skyrim's playable area extend to neighboring province

Post » Thu Nov 18, 2010 6:34 am

Specifically the NW leg of morrowind allowing us to explore Blacklight and a taste of the morrowind mainland
or perhaps a dab of High Rock? Dash of Hammerfell anyone? This would be extremely FTW in my opinion, and
was one thing that svcked about Oblivion. Especially when traveling to Leyawiin and I'd find myself wanting to
venture off the road only to hit an ivisi wall after 50 ft.

Why? That close to the border there wouldn't be much difference between two areas. In addition it makes justifying the rest of the borders harder. Why can you cross this one but not that one?

I would prefer an expansion instead of a little taste.

Ummm.... I have to dissagree on this. You DO know it is called Skyrim for a reason? Cause Skyrim is a province... Just like Morrowind... But Morrowind was on Vvardenfell.... I want a Fishy Stick

no. I did not like how OB map mad elweyer and the one next to it the size of county skingrad. not meaning we could actually go into those provences what I mean is that because the cryodil map is an angled shape it bordered those two provences on two sides and becuase the cyrodil map was so lore breakingly small elsweyer would be smaller than the shivering isles. this doesn't mean much but it does mean the more contact skyrim's map has with other provinces means the more it breaks lore with the geography. not so much with skyrim because its size on the tamerial map is smaller. in truth cryodil should have been at least 4 times bigger than varddenfell.

If not in the vanilla just wait a couple of months for an expansion or someone will mod it in.

Time spent on designing those areas in neighboring provinces is time that could be spent on making Skyrim itself better. So, no, I do not think the playable area should extend to neighboring provinces.

I don't think they will do that. I'm pretty sure they want you to focus on all the hard work they put into the land of Skyrim, not provinces from Morrowind..
But, I would love it that on the last Elder Scrolls, the game will be more than one disc and include all of the provinces O_o

No. For all the same reasons mentioned - time off Skyrim development is a loss to the game and those other provinces wopuld be better served by their own game dev at some future time.
However, imagine for one wonderful moment, that EVERY province could be developed and given the full 'Oblivion' degree of attention - a separate disk for each zone - loaded into the hard drive. making a huge total Tamriel game world where there are no borders (invisible walls) and ships can sail around the continent coastline. Each province having is own mainquest and misc tasks, yet the ability to carryout 'missions' that can transend borders (like DB missions ALL over the gameworld). It would be fantastic....... (why limit it to Tamriel? add in the entire lore and area of akavir across the sea - a game of the whole of Nirn) It would only take about ten years and development team say six times bigger thasn Beth uses currently Lol...........Dream on..............

there is actually a really easy way to get back into Morrowind when you have skyrim
hit start, run morrowind.exe
if you want to go back to oblivion
hit start, run Oblivion.exe
seriously this is skyrim, not skyrim and a little bit of morrowind or a little bit of cyrodil
I for one want to see something new
