Should Skyrim be pushed back?

If Morrowind 3 comes out just before Skyrim then I definitely wouldn't buy Skyrim on release day!

I am a fan of Call of Duty, but Skyrim is a higher priority. I've actually grown to be a little disappointed with the COD games. They don't want to spend the time to make something better than the previous ones, and their just out for sales now. I played the older COD games and I now own World At War, MW2, and Black ops, so I don't really need another rehash of the same thing. It's like they started out making these awesome historical reenactments of War, but they've slowly turned into crappy pulp-fiction. I love Bethesda's work a lot more, because they love what they do and they always succeed in providing a unique open-world/Adventure experience, and making it feel new and fresh with every release. They're one of those developers that have held onto what a video game is all about which is to provide players with a form of entertainment that gives them new experiences, ideas, and challenges.

A game being released is always going to have to compete with other games out there; Bethesda just has to trust that it's fans will go for their release instead of others'. That said, if Bethesda said that they wanted to delay in order to make skyrim just that little bit better, I'd be patient. Kinda like what bioware has done with ME3

First off, Skyrim will be 100x better than MW3. Second, they are just about as far apart as you get in type's of games, so I don't see too many people playing both series. Third, I'm sure after 3 days people will hate MW3 and be ready for Skyirm.

I think it would be cool if Bethesda releases a free parody game on Nov 8 like http://www.thedutycalls.com/

Bethesda has too much steam behind it, going full bore into 11.11.11 to change it.

Is the Mod War release date official? Even so, I bet that game will be pushed back before Skyrim.

I am getting both, but I will probably just ask GameStop to keep my copy of MW3 until that Friday (which is 11.11.11!). This way, I can get two great games at once, without saying I bought one before the other. I know I will get flamed for this, but MW3 will probably be the first disc to touch my disc tray that amazing day.

Yes, there are many loyal fans and customers to Skyrim but MW3 will be released three days before. The massive influx of people who will buy MW3 would probably weaken the sales of Skyrim since everyone would be playing it. Think about it, I don't know many people who are willing to spend 120$ for both games and that's not to say that obviously there are more MW3 fans due to the massive hype. How do you think it will fare?

dont worry about it. when skyrim comes out, it wont matter whatever else is coming out. the game will be epic and everyone knows it. and, it will last forever. check out all the used Oblivion games in Gamestop. they are still selling for 40$! and the game came out 5 years ago

Bethesda's not afraid of Modern Dwarfare 3. Two completely different audiences.

Not to mention I know several people from the MW audience, who are disappointed in the games progression (or lack there of) and won't be buying it anyway.

Its no threat really. I do think Bethesda is trying to take a big chunk of the mainstream market, but FPS and sandbox action RPG are still pretty far apart.

Bethesda will not push the date back just because of some other games coming out at roughly the same time.

I always buy Call of Duty games. But since they are coming out at the same time, I will probably delay buying Call of Duty for a few months.

2011 is going to be an intense year for games...Still:

Skyrim > Assassins Creed> ALL > The Witcher > Battlefield > Pacman > Call of Duty > Rest

In 2008, CoD was released on Nov 11th. In 2009, it was released on Nov 10th. In 2010, it was released on Nov 9th. I am pretty sure that everybody in the gaming industry was awaiting a new CoD game in the first two weeks of November. This has caught nobody by surprise, and Bethesda (and everybody else) knows that late October/early November is the prime real estate for releaseing games. This gets them out there for the big Thanksgiving shopping days. No external force will stop them from releasing the game on teh 11th, except possibly the end of the world.

Why would anyone buy mw3 when they could have BF3 or Skyrim instead?

You would have to be mentally deficient to choose that over the other two.

Also I agree with the whole 'separate audiences' thing, it's called people who have a functioning brain and those who are not so fortunate lol.

Besides they cant ruin the awesomeness of the 11.11.11 release date :celebration:

I don't get why you guys are worried about MW3? People are getting tired of the same old crap, don't think a popular game can loose customers like that? Just look at WoW, they just lost over 600,000 subscribers! After Cateclysim. So if Beth is worried about any game it should be Battle field 3.

Bethesda shouldn't be afraid to push the game back if it needs to be worked on more. I want them to take their time with this one to create a truly amazing and GLITCH FREE product. Some glitches are tolerable but New Vegas and some of their other past titles where pretty bad, I hope Skyrim is fine tuned for the most part.

Most people that play CoD have no interest in RPG's, anyway. Skyrim's also releasing the same day as Minecraft. Nothing can make Bethesda back down.

Don't push it back, HELL NO!
I'm a fan of both games, (Battlefield > CoD IMHO) and I plan on getting Skyrim
before BF and CoD, because lets face it, a simple FPS can not stand up to the complete and utter
EPICNESS of Skyrim.

my 2 cents (along with most responses)... COD is for a much different market. If gamesas pushes it out, then it starts competing with Mass Effect 3. If anything, COD being released the same week might give Skyrim some additional exposure to non-RPG gamers.

I have been saying all along that it won't be pushed back. I knew a new CoD would be probably be releasing in November, but not 3 days before Skyrim. So, no, I don't want it to be pushed back. I'll be sick if it does. But, yes, I think it's inevitable it will be pushed back now.

Come on people 10 pages for this stupid post ! He only posted it to get people freaking, they will not hold back on the release date, the release date is mainly for pre subscribers anyway, and its already in a league of its own, its pre orders are heads and shoulders above any of the other games coming out near that time, they are not worried nor should you be, this game will go platinum long before any of those others do, and will get way more raves about it.
