Should i start new vegas or fo:3?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 3:48 am

Hi guys, so heres the deal;

I'm thinking about starting the fallout adventure agian, on my ps3, and i've played both games but havent finished neither.

But, the situation is little tricky;

?n fo3: i have came to place where i should go to riven city, but i've did most of the side quests i have encountered with.

In new vegas, i've come to point where "the funny white suited guy got captured by those freaks" (i hope i didnt spoiled it), and i've also finished the most of the side quests.

But the problem is i've spoiled myself HEAVILY (dont ask) about the rest of the main quests, like i know almost everything, and this makes the game seems uninteresting.

And obviously new vegas is a batter game than fo:3, or is it? So my question is, if i start new vegas is there enough content that will keep me interested? other than starting a fo:3 run?

Or, in fallout 3, i found it like, not enough quests and content are there in the game and the game is too faltering. i liked the heavy rpg side of the new vegas.. But, i really feels like i've done with new vegas.. idk..

So, basicly what you think, which one is worth playing in my point?

Fallout: New vegas.

I don't know how people could even consider Fallout: 3 to be a fallout game.
Me. I like the gloomier feel of it, the DLCs are awesome (excluding Mother Ship Zeta), I like all of the companions, and the map is huge. Also, the game is set in a place that I've actually been to quite a few times. In addition, I love the combat in the city. Urban post apocalyptic combat is my favorite kind of combat.
Don't get me wrong, I do love New Vegas a crap load, almost as much as I love Fallout 3, but there's something inside me that makes me like Fallout 3 more, and I don't exactly know what that is.

Crap, I just realized you were talking about canon.

Well, this is embarrassing.

Canon wise, the game does make some sense. provide me with an argument and I'll be able to argue how that is possible.

I would play New Vegas. Even though I don't consider myself a Fallout fan that game had me seriously engaged for days, whereas Fallout 3 bored me after just a day or two. IMO the Mojave wasteland is just much more interesting than the Capital Wasteland.

1. Plant life doesn't exist anywhere apart from the oasis, this doesn't make any sense at all.

2. The nukes should've destoryed a majority of DC yet the buldings are still standing as if nothing even happend.

3. Why does vault 87 have the FEV virus?

3. Why does vault 87 have the FEV virus?

1. FEV could have seeped into the terrain from V87. As we know, FEV sterilizes humans (but not all animals, unfortunately) so it is possible that it sterilizes plant life. Seeing how mutated creatures roam all over the wastes, this is likely the case.
2. The nukes were made in China. What did you expect? Nah, I'm just kidding. In 2077, buildings will probably be stronger than they are now. The US government would have been extremely paranoid about thermonuclear warfare, and probably overhauled the structural integrity requirements of buildings. You could make the argument that nukes would be stronger too, but keep in mind that china probably wanted to invade the apocalyptic US at some point, so they didn't want to make a crater the size of the hemisphere.
3. Vaults housed experiments, correct? Well, V87 was most likely created to see how FEV infected humans behave socially.

Lol,

4. what is the deal with buildings limit your way every damn time you want to explore the world? it is like, they've already decided what i should do..

But i've played some new vegas on my copmuter today, and i think i will go with fo:3, because i really feel like i've done with the new vegas^^

Except, i really hope fallout 3 is not all about exploring and sandbox style, and it got some depth in the game..

That's nothing canon related, but I can answer that from a developer standpoint: they want you to use metros. The devs knew that there were going to be people who would never even look at metros because they were too scared, so they made it so that you had to explore each of them at least once to get your daily dose of feral ghoul in.

1. If there is a possibility that the FEV affects plant life then it still doesn't explain why the entire wasteland has almost no plant life.

2. The buildings don't look like they could sustain a nuclear impact.

3. I think FEV contradicts some cannon (Let me check.)

3. I think FEV contradicts some cannon (Let me check.)

1. If the FEV sterilizes plant life, then plants can't reproduce. if FEV is in fact soaked into the soil, any intact plant would become sterile, and would be inable to reproduce, thus resulting in a wasteland with no plants. As for Harold, he clearly found an FEV free spot. Yes, he may have been dunked into the FEV, but all that did was fuse him with a plant, so he would be an exception, because you know, fused DNA can be funky like that.

2. The buildings didn't look like they could because they got hit with one. Also, if you pay attention, It appears as if buildings have thicker walls than normal (lead anti-radiation insulation and shock absorbters?) and their design appears physically stronger compared to buildings today. Now, if you were talking about the houses you see at the minefield, they were far enough from a crater to survive the blasts, yet they were still defaced, evidencing that the buildings in DC are far more superior in structural rigidity than our own. As for the more traditional brick buildings in DC, the larger, stronger buildings Could have absorbed a majority of the shock and blast waves, which is probably the case, seeing as those buildings are in fact falling apart.

3. I'm fairly certain that the FEV in Fo3 doesn't contradict canon. Sure, it may have been prototype materiel for the military, but keep in mind that Vault-Tec had a role in the government.

Calm down guys we already have today's Fallout 3 hate thread.

P.S. FEV in Vault 87 is simply a backup measure. It was developed in 2076 and thus there's plenty of time to deliver it into a vault for preservation in case West Coast FEV reserves are lost in nuclear exchange.

This qualifies quite well, though it's not exactly a hate thread.

Good lord, can't you just decide what *you* want to do, and then do it? If I ever get to the point where I have to ask a bunch of strangers online about what/where/when/how to play my games, just shoot me. Thanks. :shakehead:

New Vegas is the better game, but depending on what you like you may prefer FO3.
If you like shooters, try FO3. If you like RPGs play New Vegas.
