With that rig you'll probably have nothing to worry about, you''ll most likely be able to play the game with at least High settings, if not Ultra-High. Probably the latter in fact. The only thing you might want to consider is a DX11 compatible video card. Other than that, your computer is no doubt going to be good enough as is.

Get an Xbox... much better to play skyrim on beause Xbox Live wont fail you or get your info stolen.

To the OP, you got a PC that can run Skyrim almost on max settings, which is a lot better than max on a PS3, so I'd say go for the PC.
The truth is that Bethesda is not good with PS3 Games, and the PS3 players get the worst version of the game.

If you already own a PS3 and aren't into modding, just get it for PS3.

The PC version is going to have higher res textures, so there's still a good reason to go for that platform.

I have a PS3 and a 360 and a PC i love them all , i don't feel the need to troll either system i have fun with them all

For TES i would choose PC if you like to have mods , if you don't then either a PS3 or a 360 will be fine.

Even if you don't use mods now, think of how nice it is, when you come across something that you wish would be different, to just open your browser, go to SkyrimNexus.com, find a mod that improves what you want improved, and click download, all free, and very easy - a better game in minutes!

I think the original poster was talking about stolen credit card numbers. Seriously doubt anon will distro those card numbers.

Personally, the mod community is just amazing. Nothing for or against the PS3 or Xbox, but I'd go PC without hesitation. Gives the game a much longer life and the difference btw vanilla Oblivion and let's say FCOM Oblivion was night and day.

If being able to relax with a controller while playing on a nice, big flat screen is a consideration remember you can do that with a PC.

Depends on how much money you have and how much the ps3 costs in relation to the cost it would take you to upgrade your computer (and of course whether or not you know what you're doing and whether or not you'll have to hire someone to upgrade it for you)

Another factor to consider is the size of your TV and the quality of your sound system. Although I maintain a decent gaming rig (mainly for WoW and a few other games), I played FO3, FONV, and Oblivion on the 360 because I have a huge TV and phenomenal 5.1 home theater system. Hearing the orchestral scores in 5.1 and seeing the world on a very large screen just bring out the epic nature of these games so beautifully. Even the best 5.1 PC speakers can't match a high quality home theater system that fills your entire room with the swelling orhcestral arrangements of Oblivion. Provided, of course, that you don't have any one else competing for TV time.

You do realize that you can plug your PC into any TV monitor and stereo system right? All new video cards have a special plug so you can use any HD TV you want, and having a half-decent sound card will allow you to plug it into any surround system as well. Even some of the onboard sound chips will allow you to do that. You can even use a 360 controller if you want, I'm not sure about PS3. Anything a console can do, a PC can do better.

Yeah, I have a home theater PC hooked up to my system for recording TV, but it doesn't have the horsepower for gaming. And I'm just not willing to lug my gaming PC into my living room and pass it through my AVR to play a game. Just using an Xbox or PS3 is so much simpler.

I have a ps3. I love how they made Oblivion for ps3 a good quality title. Imma get it on pc and ps3 ill support the hell out of this game. To answer your question, upgrade unless youre a trophy person and you just looooove trophies.
