Except that it has been confirmed that Skyrim won't have tessellation included, so your comparison isn't really accurate. Only DX11 performance features will be used in the PC version, none of the graphic enhancements. And frankly, looking at that roadway, I'm not sure I'd even want to use tessellation. Those road stones look very unnatural to me.

It wasn't a look at Skyrims possible grpahics. It was a look at what the Xbox 360 can handle compared to what modern PC hardware can handle.

As for how the road looks, to me, it looks fine. But it might be a matter of taste. I had several more comparison pictures put together but I figured one would get the point across.

It honestly all depends on the game.

With a series like Elder Scrolls, i'd reccomend being on PC.

...Even though i'll be picking up the console version at launch .

Yea me too if I play oon my pc its to tempting to use "tgm" and "unlock"

so up until now i've been playing oblivion on my xbox 360, but i was thinking, should i buy skyrim for the pc or 360? originally i had decided on the 360, but then i thought of the up sides to buying it for hte PC:mods, better resolution, closer to the screen.
and i heard from someone that you can connect your 360 controller to your pc...is this true?
and so that considered, everything favors teh PC version of skyrim over the 360 version...what do you guys think>?

Yes for one reason... MODS. I was able to play oblivion for years because of those bastards. But make sure they are good!

It seems some people are going overkill on their rigs.
A friend of mine runs Oblivion on full settings (8xAA, 1280x1024) with extra texture pack mods and never has any performance issues. He achieves this with just a 9500gt, 2gb drr2 and a 3ghz dual core proc.
I can't understand why people spend hundreds of dollars on a gtx580 when almost nothing can fully utilise its power. Buy a lesser card or wait for top end cards to come down in price, buying new top end cards has always and will always be a waste of money.

The differance between the 2 is this.

1. I wont have to upgrade for a very long time.
2. I have more power than I will actualy use wich means all of my games will run on max with no problems or fidling around with the settings.
3.It looks so beautiful
4. Why spend money on a computer just barley above your current one? If you are going to get one then get one that is better not just about the same.
5. Do you want old stuff thats allready pretty out of date or stuff thats not and still has life in it?
6. We have 6 months till the game comes out wich means you can by parts one at a time as you can afford it. (building a PC is slow time consuming and well worth it in the end)
7. I run at 12+AA 1280x1024 12+ Teselation and maxed out on everything els. at 50-200 or more frames. By the time top end cards go down they have allready been replaced. Wich will be in another 2 years. SO are you going to wait 2-3 years for a GT590 to go down to 200 and have a card thats allready pretty well out of date?
8. A powerhouse PC is for the PC gamer. Like me I hate running games on low or medium. I spent 50+ on a game I want to see it in all its beauty.
9. Oblivion shows its age it was built pretty much around the systems of the time. Try running the lattest games on full settings. Since new games wont let you do that anymore the settings the game will allow you to play at.

Well there's your problem. I play games at 1920x1200, and I need it to run at at least 50fps to avoid headaches after ~30 minutes of playing. Resolution and framerate are the two biggest reasons I prefer playing on pc. 580 is overkill on all except the most demanding games, but it's nice to know that you have a bit more power than is needed so that you will be able to run future games at desirable settings/resolution.

Exactly a gaming machine is for "hardcoe" gamers. I use that term loosely (I hate the term hardcoe.) Pretty much a person who wants to have more than what they need knowing its there if they ever need it but not having to tax the system or having to OC. BTW overclocking is infact bad for any and all computers. but some can handle it better than most. Thats one reason you get good parts because evntualy you will OC and the parts have to withstand up to 30% if you hope to have the system live through it.

Play it on the platform you enjoy the most. I'm generally a PC gamer (WoW, Civ, etc.) and built a gaming rig last summer and upgraded to a GTX 560 video card last month. But I'm going to play Skyrim on the 360. Why? Because I played Oblivion on both the 360 and PC and enjoyed the experience more on the 360. Bethesda did a surprisingly good job bringing RPG mechanics to the console. That got even better with Fallout 3, and it's going to be much better on Skyrim with the two-trigger combat system.

And even though I've got a 22" monitor on my gaming PC, epic games are even better on a 58" plasma with 5.1 surround cranked up loud. Sure, you can hook a PC to your home theater, but why bother if you've already got a console. And if you prefer the 360 controller to mouse and keyboard, why spend the cash to play it on a PC?

New computers pretty much have this ability built in. I got mine on my 40" LCD and since I always use a Headset I got me a logitech G930 I also have a true surround sound that I use if I ever need it. But if you allready have a 360 controler then you are not wasting anymore money on getting a new one since you have one. Also play on what you like if you are like me then go PC because a 360 was is good for some games but not games you want to look pretty damn awesome 360- does not compare to what a PC can do. Just look at the 2 and you can see big differances with the new titles. one big thing textures get kinda blurry and washed out on the 360 while PC keeps them high quality.

Agreed on that. That was apoor example. I can mod Oblivion with better textures on the PC and have extremly high quality then run those max. As the 360 will run Oblivion on medium to medium-high.

Now you have to be honest with yourself. Can I afford a really good PC? Yes you can if you are single then hell yes as you can sacrafice some things and eat romen noodles or not go out and eat as much or not drive as much or hell ride a bike to and from work/school when the weather is good.

Another point is this what kind of gamer are you? Do like to get the most out of your games or is it to just some time you have?

Again what can you afford? You cant afford a new system right off the bat? Thats ok most parts dont go over $100. So its easy to save and buy parts one at a time. You got 6 months before the game comes out. so you have plenty of time to start getting parts.

Be honest console people you have to admit PC games quite often look so much better than what you see on the consoles.

-- Radeon HD 6850 -- 150 €
-- AMD PHENOM II X6 1090T at 3.20GHZ -- 180 € (look below)
-- RAM: 8 gbs (80 €).
-- MOBO: One of 60 (Asrock, Gigabyte or ASUS) recommended.
-- Case/Misc stuff: 30 € (150+180+80+60=470. +30=500).

PC's are only expensive if you don't know how to buy them.

470 euros is around $670

Over simplified.

Go to newegg.com or tigerdirect.com

you need
Power supply I would not go lower than 600 Watt $150+
Mother board $100+
Heatsink $50+
case $50+
fans (case you get may not have any or not enough) $15+ each
video card (you may need to upgrade to a PCI-E) $150+
Hard drive if you need to upgrade to a Sata III $40+
Optic drive same as above. $20 each
Memory $50 each

When you have a chance to run Oblivion at 1920x1080 with Qarl's textures (2048x2048 version), OBGEv2 with SSAO, ENBSeries Shaders, TNR, HGEC, Unique Landscapes, Better Cities, etc., you will never again be able to go back to running the game at 1280x1024

You don't need dual or triple top-end GPUs to do that, I'm able to run these on my laptop with a second tier DX11 laptop card (1GB AMD 5830M), but the framerate and load times are slower with 150+mods installed than they would be on a decent gaming desktop.

I think the only reason to get the 2x or 3x of the absolute top-end GPUs is if you want to run extreme high resolutions, 3D mode or multiple monitor setups, or if you want to avoid upgrading again for the next several years. (Or if you can use the video card for other purposes like CUDA hardware processing for Adobe CS5 apps, etc.)

stick to the 360 if you like it, i will stick to my pc, just thing is that they're developing the game with the 360 specifically in mind so it'll probably play just as well if not better on the 360 than the pc. and besides you're gonna need to spend tons of money to get a pc that can run this game on decent graphics (but of course its much more than worth it if you start playing other pc games too)

I have three coworkers who play Bethesda games, all of them were on Xbox/Xbox 360. I converted two to the PC and don't really talk to the third much. Both of those I convinced to go PC say they are glad they did and don't plan on going back. Although mods are being talked of eventually being placed on Xbox 360, who knows what will come of it...and mods alone make PC worthwhile. The only reason I would recommend playing a Bethesda RPG on a console is if you have a crap computer that can barely run it and not enough money to upgrade. In that case, keep playing it on your console until you can get a good PC.

One other thing to consider: what do you currently use your PC for? If you already do processor intensive things like photo/audio/video editing and encoding, and your PC is showing its age, then you already have a reason to build a new desktop with a good CPU, a fair amount of ram, a decent hard drive, and a high resolution monitor. Adding on gaming to your requirements only means you have to add on $130-$250 for a good to great graphics card, plus a little extra money for a PSU that can push enough power for the card. It's already a good idea to buy an 80 plus certified PSU, so getting one with a bit more wattage shouldn't cost you more than $30 extra unless you're going with a modular one, which is more for convenience. If you're interested in 3d modeling as a hobby, then you also already have a reason to get a gaming-quality GPU.

So the way I look at it is that PC gaming is only significantly more expensive than console gaming if you currently only use your PC for basic tasks like web browsing and word processing. If you already do other intensive activities that a console simply can't do, then building a gaming PC is like getting a PC that you already need and adding $200 to it. A lot of people look at PC gaming and say "oh that's more expensive than console gaming; you need a PC that costs $800 while you could just buy a console that costs $200." But that's ignoring the fact that gaming PCs can do many, many more things than consoles, and the majority of people on here are probably already using a PC that cost them at least $400-$600.

Though you have made your choice. I will comment about which system is best for me.

It all depends on how important SR is too you. If your a so called hardcoe fan then pc is really your best option. If SR really matters that much to you, paying to upgrade your pc is a no brainier. For example I paid $300 for a video card just so I could play OB. Literally, I never used if for any other game(except erhaps for a few days on MW before OB came in the mail), after OB I did not play any games for almost 2 years. Then when FO3 came I upgraded for that and will spend another $300+ to get the best SR has to ofter. I base my upgrades on Bethesdas game. SR is very important to me, very few other games interest me. If SR came out only for a console(assuming it had mods) and it was the only game I wanted for this console, I would buy the console for it.

So for those you play a lot of games and SR is just 1 in a dozen there looking forward too, it does not make much sense buying/upgrading a pc to play it. But for those who fav company is Beth, that plan on playing for it far more than any other games, the "hardcoes" or whatever you want to call them, pc is the way to go.

I'd do it, hell I'd play it on a PS3 rather than 360 tbh. I don't know what the trouble was but the load times on 360 are worse than the PS3 by miles and on PC the more memory you have and a fast processor and the waits are almost non-existent for OB. So take Skyrim and add x10 all the textures and whatnot's and you have a game that is going to take a looooong time to load on a 360.

The biggest difference between the console version and PC version will be the Mods... The Elder Scrolls has a HUGE modding community that will tweak and improve every bit of the game.
So... if you have the chance get a PC.

If you compare the look of Oblivion on your Console to screen shots made with an modded PC Version then you would find your answer.
You only have to use Google to search for pictures of Oblivion.

I play Games on my PC, and i`ll stick to it.

If you have a PC that can run it with few performance issues, then I would say go with the PC version. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with playing it on a console. I have Oblivion and Fallout 3 on my PS3 myself. But the PC is really where the elder scrolls games shine the most.
