Well I don't see a good reason to do that. However, if she wants to get Oblivion for her PC now, given all the mod content thats out, then I don't see a problem. She should be able to get it for pretty cheap.

I own Oblivion on PS3, 360 and PC. I think they just feel different and I like going on all of them.

I'd choose PC... higher quality graphics + mods. Especially for the mods!

Well, now that don't make much sense to to me to spend that kind of money on one game unless its a family or roomate thing, and you like to play it on another machine if one of those said machines is being used.

I know a certain DC writer that did that with DC online.

But hey, it's your money.

Well, have in mind one thing:

Skyrim IS build with dx11 pipeline. That means that external software (like MGE) could (and eventually SHOULD) replace shaders, textures. What does it mean? TESSELATION!
Seriously. When very first STALKER came out, it has simple parallax mapping, then 1 modder come and bring relief mapping to it - much better look! And there isn't any problem with shader replacement for skyrim (I guess, if shader format is someth. .FX like - all-in-one file per material)... Whatever structure is, it will be disassembled, trepanated, scanned, discovered and finally - rebuild. With tesselation support.

As for me, it's [censored] good reason to play PC. Maybe not since launch, a year after - buy powerful PC, load dozens of mods and re-discover Skyrim for you... (In case you've got console right now, not PC).

Well, one thing is for sure. If they're implementing DX11 (as Todd said), they're not implementing it for nothing, so some purpose must have towards the game.

I just hope it's useable by them for a future official full DX11 patch, or for the modding community, and it's not just some sort of odd test implementation for the next Bethesda game that uses the Creation Engine.

I'll probably borrow a pc copy from a friend after a few play-throughs on my xbox. The reason being is i would like to stay away from mods until i have fully enjoyed the game. This is only because i tend to lean towards mods if i have the ability, and some mods can truely ruin the experience. If i don't have the ability to mod, i will experience the game for what it is. After that, i will trade with my friend, and go mod crazy.

In terms of what you should do, idk do what seems right. If you have the money for a new pc, make sure your buying it for more than just Skyrim.

You know, Willpower exists in real life, too, and not only as a TES attribute...

Besides, there won't be many mods out in the first months, and the ones which will be are going to be mostly quick fixes, or stat changers (many of them ridiculously overpowered). I don't plan to install ANY mod for at least my first full playthough, and I don't have even to try not to do it, because although I'm a mod-addict, I absolutely don't want to spoil my first Skyrim experience.

But by first playing 360/PS3, you're going to miss quick bugfixes, which are always much quicker than official patches. It's a pity IMO...

i was thinking the exact same but £100 for an xbox or £800+ for a pc that could manage to run it half decent and no where near as good as the 360. You'd have to spend over a grand easy to get a decent pc to run the game smoothly and see some of your monies worth...

Just for Skyrim? I would advise against it.

Now if you plan on using your PC in a long run, or for more than just one game, go ahead. Its a great investment, and yes games ARE better on PC. Though just be prepared to be in a chair in front of it for a looong time rather than a comfy couch ;)

what are you smoking. 800 pounds is like 10,000 dollars. even an $800 dollar computer is going to smoke an 360 in every concievable way. i really wish console owners would stop commenting on stuff they know absulutely nothing about. it just spreads misinformation and lies around.

I bought my laptop for $600. And it works perfectly fine. You don't need to spend $1300 on a computer.

And, yes, you should definitely switch to a PC.

$1600on mine a couple years ago, should upgrade the vid card soon. But I have until october to upgrade.

Wanting the prices to come down on the Radeon 68xx cards, or to find a good combo deal for an nVidia chipset mobo and GT580.

if you can afford it go for it, better to get one now than after the game is out and lost all your characters and spend an extra $50. mods are great. just dont turn into an elitist, no one likes them.

So I've heard, probably with a price point of around $3-400 probably. Which would cause a drop in the 68XX 2gb cards, which I could live with.

Play on wat you like, the difference between the PC and 360 versions is the resolution for the most part, as for mods well as todd has talked about a little bit, the 360 and PS3 might be getting mods from the PC modder community if bethesda gets something going with microsoft and sony. Im a console gamer 80% through, but i do hop on my laptop to explore and use mods with certain games, hopefully i wont have to by 2 copies of skyrim like i had to do with oblivion to enjoy a few mods.
