Should The Elements Affect Us?

Post » Sun Sep 04, 2011 8:00 am

When playing OB the PC didn't mind walking around naked in Bruma, seeing how most of Skyrim is covered in snow if we don't wear any clothes we should die of the cold but in return we run faster without clothes.

Same with shoes, if we go bare footed we should get cuts and stains on our feet so we start limping also should shoes and boots wear out from walking on them too much but seeing how there's no armour degradation it probably wont happen.

EDIT: Visual affects as well like frozen HUD's same like with alcohol etc...

Thoughts? And would it bother you?

Realism does not equal good, and not all of Skyrim is a lump of ice.

Two confirmed things: Frost damage, and shivering if outside with not enough clothing on.

Some Hand-On player stated that your character will, indeed, fell cold and shivering if he gets outside with thin clothes. :hubbahubba:

Perhaps for a hardcoe mode mod and Skyrim is a big lump of ice, apart from a few woodland areas.

So it's a good idea to wear sleeves unlike the trailer Dovahkiin.

So if I go around naked I will surely enough freeze to death and will it affect other NPC's?

We don't know to that level as it hasn't been talked about.

Would hope so. Even if it was very simplistic. Can't be hard for them, they could just have areas with slow health drain, opposite of the recharge mechanic, it's not like they haven't done a game full of radiation, after all.

Nymphs walked around naked all the time with no problems, even in the snowy peaks of Hammerfell.

Does the snow accumulate to cover up caves too?

I would assume Nymphs have a resistance to frost, perhaps an attribute Nords can have seeing how they spend everyday in it and through generations mutated their bodies to cope with the cold.

I think coats or cloaks in the game, or even furry robes, would be awesome, just for the freezing purpose alone.

Should... but I am guessing it will have to be modded in for it to have any real effect other than just shivering. It was confirmed there is no hardcoe mode.

Nords and Khajiit should have some more resistance to frost then (Bretons and Orcs too mayby considering their homeprovince?)

But others are saying it is confirmed there is frost damage and stuff and so what if there is no hardcoe mode this should be for standard play or for mods.

I don't mean with standard spells I mean with elements so it affects the Khajiit as well.

From http://www.imperial-library.info/content/races-tamriel-nord:

Nords are famous for their resistance to cold, even magical frost,

The page implies this throughout each game description.
