Should the next fallout have...

Should it have a blood on/off switch in the options?

No, its not Fallout without its trademark bloody fatalities.

No, it shouldn't, it's not meant for people who are weak to the sight of blood and/or gore and not really meant for youngungs either.

Unless you mean turning off the decapitations and limb seperations simply because they look damn stupid then I'm going to say no.

Well I wouldn't want them to be completely turned off but I would like the opposite of Bloody Mess, making limb separations less common. (If I attack a small gecko with a Super Sledge and 10STR though then I want the entire body to go splush.)

I like it bloody. I am not so keen on how it works on this engine though, looks a bit weird. I'd like death animations, the ones in F1/2 rocked! It could be done like the death animations of zombies in L4D2 works. You can still shoot at them and they will react to the bullets as they are in their death animation at the same time. You know, blasting your shotgun in the stomach of a zombie, watching his intestines drop to the floor as he falls to his knees, and you can shoot him some more as his death animation makes it not look stupid like it does right now with the abit-overly-elastic ragdolls and how people die the moment you blow their leg off. I'd also like if they lived abit longer, screaming in agony, holding the stump that's left of their leg as the blood gushes out in the sand... maybe even crawl away alittle.... heh heh heh.

Oh, I guess that is NOT what you want? Errr, then violent games is the wrong genre for you but I don't see why a "Gore off"-button in the Options menu wouldn't hurt since you don't have to push it if you don't wanna and gore is gonna be enabled as default anyways..

Perhaps, it just pisses me off when it shoot someone with and the head just completely detaches and sails away; really takes me out of it. Either I use EWs and risk un-removable piles of [censored] everywhere or I get to comically sever body parts with guns.

Ayeah, a 9mm bullet to the head and the throat is cut clean off...
At least laser is feasible as it did cleave people in two in the older games.
And explosives also makes sense for it.
Certain Melee weapons make sens and so do some Unarmed ones like Ballistic Fist or Pushy.
But Guns really shouldn't have so much gore as it does.

But the original games let you toggle the violence on/off.

Anyway, I love the comedy gore myself, but if people want to be able to tone it down, sure, why not.

This is an RPG, so having more options wouldn't be uncharacteristic. Besides, while I would personally keep the same amount of gore, I have nothing against someone else not doing what I do and lowering the volume/extent of it. It's a pretty harmless, simple choice that could let everyone have what they want, in that aspect. Or, at least, nearly everyone.

So I'd say sure, so long as it doesn't cause any problems gameplay-wise. :]

Im down for a "switch" that toggles between blood pouring out of wounds and rainbows sprouting out of wounds. :twirl:
while we are at it, let's substitue guns and bullets for words of encouragement and win the bad guys over instead of killing them.
Grenades and bombs? confetti poppers and streamers- that would unite the wasteland!

oh, heck, why not use kitten launchers, too. who can be mad when theyre coverd in fluffy mewing kittens?

You can kind of do that in some cases, actually-diplomacy over violence.

I get your point, but you don't need blotches of red to make a game serious or dark. I don't remember the gore in Fallout ever being so impressive that it's a key part of the experience, like I would think it would be in Dead Space. The graphics are mainly to blame, but the point is that I never found it needed when corpses act like dolls that can lose limbs and, again, blood's just basically a blotch of red. So if someone wants it off, why not make it an option? It hardly matters, anyways.

Instead of an option to turn blood off we should have the option to have the original F1/F2 death animations which were immensely satisfying.

I don't really see the point. There's plenty of other things in the game that would freak out someone who is, shall we say, "weak in the knees" than the blood/gore of the game from battle.

Raider-torture victims anyone?

Indeed. Energy weapon disintegration was my personal favorite.

As dikey pointed out, all of you saying 'IT'S NOT FALLOUT WITHOUT BLOOD!' technically it's not Fallout if it doesnt have the option to turn blood off too

it's fallout..if u wanna play a game without blood and gore go play sims...or bratz or sumthing....seems pointless to make an option that takes away from the game....

I find this to be a very condescending post, and I should know about condescending. Just because someone doesn't want to deal with blood or gore that automatically negates them as a gamer? As I said, Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout: Tactics all had an option to turn off the gore. So technically, Fallout 3 and New Vegas take away from the series. Besides, it was an optional ability that you could turn off by opening the options menu. Keyword in that is optional, meaning you don't have to use it. I know this is shocking, but not everyone likes what you like.

Perhaps you condecending jack-asses should read the whole thread before declaring that the notion is 'not Fallout' or that the OP is a [censored] or something.
