Should the northern ocean be iced over? : V - Skyrim

Skyrim just isn't on the north pole. So a frozen ocean would make no sense at all.

I really don't get why people expect Skyrim to be some frozen wasteland. Skyrim is just in the north of the continent of Tamriel, but there's a whole continent to the north of it: Atmora. Now if there are places that are a frozen wasteland, then it has to be on Atmora, not in Skyrim.

Skyrim has snow, but it's basically there because Skyrim is a relatively mountainous region.

This is more or less what I came here to say. That, plus: no penguins. Doesn't fit in with TES lore.

A frozen sea is just annoying. Maybe have some base on an iceberg somewhere, but not a frozen sea.

An ocean does not just freeze since it is constantly moving, there would have to be another ice age for it to get cold enough to instantly freeze just the top layer of the water (I guess, isnt like I'm an expert in weather)
As for penguins, though I would love to see one, it probably would not make much sense because they would be extinct from being hunted by... well almost everything .-. (What does a penguin taste like anyway...?)

I think it'll be a bit like Solstheim, a bit of ice on the edges, but definitely not frozen over.

As for penguins, no. I want Horkers, not penguins.

I voted OTHER...here is my idea...I want the northern coast to have a couple of miles of open seas...then an ice cap....think of all the great Antarctic-style exploring that could be done....Ice-caves, plus places where you could dig holes in the ice, and dive in (with water-breathing potions/spells needed, of course. Then all the opportunity of exploration!

Skyrim isn't altmora. Think of Skyrim as being Canada, while Altmora is Antarctica.

Skyrim's coasts aren't cold, at least not enough for the oceans to ice over, as otherwise the Sheogorad Region and a lot of the Northernmost parts of Vvardenfel would be iced over or at the very least not supportive of the plant life present in those areas. (yeah you might bring up Red Mountain, but I doubt that Sheogorad is being so greatly affected by that)
