Should there be battle scars

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 4:44 am

Do you guys think you should get scars after a battleif you got cut? For example, if you were battling a dragon and it sliced your arm, should you keep that scar forever. You know, keep your adventures on your skin kind of idea. also if you join a guild or faction that you get a tatoo? like if you joined the Dark Brotherhood, then you would get a skull like tatoo anywhere you want it. Also that would help with making the game more realistic when it cam eto joining factions. Such as if you had a Dark Brotherhood tatoo and then you went to the fighters guild, they would say like "That mark...on your arm...tthats the Dark Brotherhood! You are not welcome here, leave before we rip you to pieces you piec eof scum!" So..what do you guys think with these ideas. Leave a comment. <3

Sounds cool in theory, but I can imagine getting a LOT of scars, so I don't know.

Predicting responses to this thread: "wtf no this isn't fable."

I would like this, however, though [like everything else, it seems] it should be an option for those who want keep their characters immaculate for whatever reason.

...Jeez, at this point Skyrim will be all options and no game.

Way too hard to implement. It's not going to happen.

I don't think the DB would like to have a specific tattoo associated with them, it would kind of make you stick out, you know? And if people saw they would be all like "OMGZ IT'Z TEH DARK BROTHERHOOD DOOD KEEL HIM!"

I would like the option to apply scars during character creation similar to Mass Effect but every wound shouldn't scar. I like the tattoo idea. Tattoos, brands and other body modification would add another layer to the faction system and make them more believable.

That isn't fair to say. they read the forums and listen to us.. This does not mean they can add every little thing that we want to see in the game though. Even if they think it is a good idea themselves they might have to just say no, they didn't add spears due to time constraints so there you go. It isn't about ignoring us.. it is about getting the game out nice and polished on time.

Not liking it much. I'm a fan of "I spent time in the character creator for a reason, and it wasn't for the game to redo my look on its own whims." I'd like to stick with my character looking the way I decide they should look, thanks anyway.

For scars in particular, while these might work for some playstyles, I've got Oblivion and Morrowind characters who have been played enough that if permanent scarring were in, they'd be nothing but walking head-to-toe scars. Nah, I'll pass.

I am not saying they ignore us, I am just saying that this thread is very controversial, whatever one person likes the other person hates, and we are not the best representation of the ES buyers

Bad idea. You get in a fireball fight with a mage, then your permanently disfigured with burn scars on your body. Not a fun gameplay mechanic in my opinion.

This would be completely useless to me as I always play in first person and never see myself anyway. So I'd certainly rather see them work on something more important than this.

Scars? You want scars? Mod 'em.

"Dude, it was like the most totally awesome game except that I never got any cuts or scars after any of the fights, so I demanded my money back."

OMFG! I'm too old for this.

Absolutely not- no battle scars unless I put them there in the Character Creator! We'll have hundreds, if not thousands of fights in the course of this game- imagine if only 1 out of 10 left you with a scar- it's just a bit much.

Besides, I hate it when games mess with the look of my character -here's looking at you, Fable!

i'd like scars but only on the character creation system, not just on the face but also body scars.

The scars idea I would think should be an option at character creation. I don't want scars put on my character at random.

I do like the tattoo idea though, so long as it is optional.

Some, but you should be able to mend them. I always found it weird in Fable that no matter how strong my healing spells were I could never heal my scars, sure I could heal me to keep me alive but scars oh no! That′s just far too hard to heal!

So give us scars but let us be able to heal them, be it with healing potions or magic.

Who knows, perhaps it would be possible to have your character and other healers heal around scars too if you want to keep a certain scar, but not potions those should heal anything (not like they have a mind after all...)
