Should there be a Crysis 2 movie?

Post » Mon Mar 21, 2011 3:46 am

I really like the idea of someone making a movie from Crysis 2. I think it would make a great movie. There is so much that a person could work with to make a movie from Crysis. Here is a link to some ideas for the movie that I found, http://www.gamespot.com/forums/topic/28409855/crysis-2-movie.

No, not for Crysis 2. Maybe for Crysis 4.

Only if it's made in engine.
And only if it's something on the side of Crysis 2. Like a backstory, or what happens between C2 or C3, or C1 and C2.
Something I haven't seen.

An unfamiliar audience may not understand it though.
Oh well.
If Capcom did it with Resident Evil, I'm sure Crytek can do it with Crysis. :)

I say no because game-based movies tend to be AWFUL, except for some exceptions (TRON series, for example). That's because you need to not only provide a story, but a CULTURE and a WORLD. I think Crysis 2 does this well, but only for its own game. You can't really expand away from the characters and the game's story....otherwise it risks being really hokey. It'd be another typical alien flick with super soldiers and I think it would be a mockery to the series.

So, no. I'm still skeptical to make see ANY game develop into a movie. But if I had to choose current running game series that I think could get it pulled off right if done properly by the studios, it'd be Bioshock, or Half-Life. I think those games develop not only good stories in the game themselves, but provide a very iconic world which you could build and expand a movie plot around.

Sounds like it could make a rather good movie. One suggestion though, Samuel L. Jackson should play prophet. Then we could hear him say "enough is enough. I've had with these mother******* aliens in this mother******* town"

Every Video Game Movie is Directed by a Guy that
-Never plays Video Games
-Is crazy to begin with
-Is like 50 years old
-And believes the movie needs drama, which is why we get characters that shouldn't exist.
-Gives known characters a different role, for example, in the Crysis movie, Helena is going to be the cook, Prophet is the Alien Overlord, and psycho is Nomads dead older brother.
-Or does everyone else think we need another Super Mario bros movie? (Hint) Its the worst movie in history.

Only if it's animated.
But most movies based on books/games are just f****ing aweful! If you read the book/play the game before and then watch the movie, you want to puke!

All movies and animated series stand to do is make the concept much less epic. Doing it would be the definitive mark of fully selling out.
