Should there be people hunting you?

Depends solidly on the reasons for them hunting you. Is it a believable reason? Then yes, an occasional attack by, say, Dragon Worshippers or somesuch would be okay.

If it's just that "hey, we heard you're Dragonborn, and that you're the only way we're going to be able to survive. So we decided to kill you for the glory."

PC: "But if you kill me, you'll die when Alduin eats the world."

"But... the GLORY of the KILL."

PC: "So you want to die?"

"Of course not, but I want the GLORY!"

I voted don't care. If I am then I don't really mind but if I am not then that does not both me either. Although, it would make the game feel alot more like Fallout 3.

Scenario 1: They attack in PC's home. Their corpses are not disposable and annoy the crap out of people, such as myself.

Scenario 2: They act as Mythic Dawn sleeper agents in Oblivion and may kill innocent civilians. In a lowly populated gameworld with hand-placed NPCs, such as Morrowind's and Oblivion's, killing even one or two people has an effect on how populated an area can seem... a negative effect, in my opinion.

Scenario 3: They surprise annoy the PC during an epic moment and ruin the atmosphere.

Good points.
I think I'll change my vote from "Yes" to "No".

What I would like to see however, is stealthy hunters in dungeons. In previous TES games, you're the only one that can sneak, all other enemies are reckless and just runs toward you trying to kill you with whatever weapon they have available. It would be awesome to be stalked INSIDE A DUNGEON by some creepy assassin-monster.
As long as they don't follow you home, kills your favourite shopkeeper before they mess up your well-sorted bookshelf and you finally kill it, leaving its ugly corpse in your house for the next week.

It would be nice and balance a little the do whatever you want and be happy feeling we are getting from later TES games.
If you piss a faction, if you get infamous, there should be people willing to get you or just someone trying a pot shot at you with a bow, like a hunter seeing you, recognizing you, and taking a shot and once you see him he start fleeing...

If your bad ass, people will fear you as much as they be willing to kill you
If you piss someone the same but hate, will to kill
If your on one side the other side will want to have your head if they know it.
Bounty hunter will stalk you for money not caring what or who you are.

World should be dangerous, acts cause reactions.

Enought BS with unable to kill:
Start list..

I don't care either way if gamesas implements this or not. It does sound a little Rockstar-ish (GTA/Red Dead). If they use a system that makes sense for Skyrim then I'm fine with that.

It would be fun to have a NPC tail you before they attack. Many games have missions where you tail someone but none I've played have the roles reversed.

I think it's a good idea, but I would want the encounters to feel different from random encounters with bandits on the road. If it feels the same, then why not just settle for random encounters with bandits on the road?

I would like something like this. It adds adrenaline, I always thought my character's life is too peaceful inside towns. And I like being challenged by the game sometimes, I like some events where I'm not in control, this hunting thing is a good example.

To the example you gave? No. To other forms of being hunted? Yes.

I always thought it would be cool to be tracked down and stalked by a stealth-using NPC. One that would follow me into caves and wait for the opportune moment to strike rather than running in with an axe and a battle cry. Someone who waits until I'm in a battle with a troll or something.

I wouldn't like it if I was just constantly hunted for being infamous. Screw that. Leave me alone. But if it was for a certain quest or something like that, then yeah, definitely.

they did it on fallout and it worked out pretty well. if u were infamous these guys called rangers would come after you. u have random encounters with them and they were worth opponents but everyone is in fallout becuz everyone has guns and it levels better then OB. but it was pretty cool. opposite of that if u were a goody tooshoes talon company mercs wuld come after u after a certain point. cuz no matter wut u do people will want u dead. but i mean tht adds to immersion in oblivon and morrowind u always got missions to kill people who were murderers or if they were causing trouble for some corrupted guild. so it makes sense it shuld happen to u 2

It was pretty surprising in F3 the first time I encountered the Talon Company. I had just entered a power station and gotten my ass handed to me, ran for the door and made it outside only to be confronted by these mercenaries. Thought they would be pushovers but ended up running for my life! The next time it happened I dusted the floor with them with my rocket launcher but still had to go back and get my armor repaired at Megaton. It kept things interesting but I agree it happened WAY to often. I mean, I kept killing these dudes and there always seemed to be more of them.

The other thing I thought could have been done better is that these encounters were always an in your face full frontal attack and the NPCs had no regard for their own lives. They shouldn't run at the first sign of trouble, but when they're down they should be out. And if they are sent to hunt you they should definitely have different styles of hunting depending on who it is.

It stands to reason that being the dragonborn you would have enemies that would want you dead, but some variation and intelligent AI could make these encounters EPIC every time instead of just becoming a nuisance after awhile. For some it should be an honorable fight, and others should try for the cheap win while you are fighting something else. Some should come at you from the shadows and some from the rooftops. If the hunter is defeated and killed, the next encounter should be radically different and unique!

Fixed that for ya.

No, it svcked in Fallout 3 with the Regulators/Talon Company Mercenaries, and there's little reason to believe it wouldn't svck in Skyrim as well. I'd fight tooth and nail to keep Bethesda from perpetrating such bogus nonsense on us again- mistakes should be learned from, not repeated.

Now then- if you want to discuss specific individuals or groups you've interacted with possibly sending people after you depending on your actions, that's a bit different- but no universal "You're good, so Evil Incorporated is coming after you constantly"/"You're evil, so Cheesy Bounty Hunters R Us is coming after you constantly" rubbish, tyvm.

I'm definately voting yes.

But of course - as with almost all things in a game - there's a fine line to walk between enjoyment and annoyment. Such ambushes really need to occur in the right way at the right place at the right time.
I'd say give it a chance, if the player warrants it. If your character is very insensible to fame and infamy and steps on the wrong toes then that should have consequences.

And corpses being left behind in your house? Now where the heck did that ever happen? <_<

This from the game reactor mag, I'm quoting Cratesmasher from that thread: "[about Radiant story] If you kill an NPC in a display of blind violence, it might just be that this NPC had a brother. The Radiant Storytelling will then function in the way that it will make this brother come to claim vengeance for the murder. Maybe he'll gather his other brothers to come find you?"
so it appears be hunted will (at least in this from) be in the game!

Smells Fallout 3! ... So, no.
I don't want people to hunt me down.

We have enought just to deal with guards, I woulnd't want bounty hunters trying to kill me every time!

In Morrowind, it was fun, because it happened just once, with the Dark Brotherhood... But it was for a DLC.

Stop right there, criminal scum!
That's what you get for breaking laws on my watch.
You want to live the reckless life of a thief/murderer, deal with it. :shifty:

A good way to do this might be that you dont just wake up and there the assassins are.....rather you see them walking down a path or hear them coming from behind you...after all they might just be on the way somewhere else and even if they are actively hunting you they might just be looking for you and happened to see you....

also hunters must come only after you have angered certain people/faction or if you have become very famous.... for example in arena or maybe your rival hero might attack you

And possibly if they see you in a large town....they start following you and when there are no guards close they jump on you

the whole idea is it to be dynamic

but probably the most important thing is that they dont just appear when you wake up, but rather come behind you as they track you and just happen to catch up....

This would be so friggin cool! Though they would need to make it different somehow with the infamy thing because Red Dead Redemption already did that. And they did it well!

It would be sweet if a caption appeared on the screen saying something like "you are being hunted" or something about "assassins have been sent by so and so" it would make me immediately stop in my tracks and I would keep looking around to see if they are behind me.

I know its not going to happen like that, and this game is going to be friggin awesome as it is, but it would be sweet.
