Should there be people hunting you?

What would be really great was if there were some Tamrielic equivalent of ignorant natives. Y'know, you make the Native Skyrimians mad, so their scalpers hunt you down.

If it's done right, then yes. If it's simplistic where hunters pop out of a hunter factory every 3 days to whack me, then no.

To elaborate, I don't think that people should be trying to kill you just because you're a very good, or very bad person in general. That doesn't really make any sense. I think that in order for someone to want you dead, and have the means and desire to see it through, you would have to have screwed with the wrong faction or NPC. So in that sense, only a set number of NPCs or factions would have the capacity or desire to hire an assassin. One, they'd have to have the coin to hire, where I would think that assassins would come at a high price. And two, they'd have to have it in their personality for that kind of revenge.

For example, if you were to disrupt the illegal operations of a crime syndicate, they probably wouldn't care too much for that. They certainly would have the wherewithal and desire to put you in a river as well. Whether they hire an assassin to deal with you, or send some of their muscle, that would be up to them. But it shouldn't be an endless stream of people coming after you either. Maybe one or two attempts before they don't think you're worth the trouble anymore.

But the point is, simply being good or bad shouldn't result in attempts on your life. You should have to actually do something that would illicit that degree of revenge.

Would this be before or after you Dive Rock'd him? Because I imagine that would make for a rather vengeful spirit.

No, it svcked in Fallout 3 with the Regulators/Talon Company Mercenaries, and there's little reason to believe it wouldn't svck in Skyrim as well. I'd fight tooth and nail to keep Bethesda from perpetrating such bogus nonsense on us again- mistakes should be learned from, not repeated.

Now then- if you want to discuss specific individuals or groups you've interacted with possibly sending people after you depending on your actions, that's a bit different- but no universal "You're good, so Evil Incorporated is coming after you constantly"/"You're evil, so Cheesy Bounty Hunters R Us is coming after you constantly" rubbish, tyvm.

Agree 100% hated that feature in Fallout 3 and hope we dont have to deal with such nonsense in skyrim... And as others have already mentioned these random encounters can ruin the atmosphere.

I apporach a begger during a quest for a little more info...
begger says "I dont know anything about this quest of yours but for an extra 5 gold i do have a piece of info for you."
i give the begger 5 more gold
begger says "you seem to have caught the eye of (insert enemies name here) and now he wants you dead. Watch your back. a red cloaked man was asking about you the other day."
I keep my eyes open for someone wearing a red cloak.
Spotted him in town, he is following me. gonna have to lead him on a little chase into the woods to confront him.
Red cloaded man follows me into the woods. Nobody else around. I turn...

I think it would be very cool if done right. I dont have to find the quest because the quest finds me first. Then i get to hunt down (insert enemy name here) so i can stop his hired henchmen once and for all.

It would be nice and balance a little the do whatever you want and be happy feeling we are getting from later TES games.
If you piss a faction, if you get infamous, there should be people willing to get you or just someone trying a pot shot at you with a bow, like a hunter seeing you, recognizing you, and taking a shot and once you see him he start fleeing...

If your bad ass, people will fear you as much as they be willing to kill you
If you piss someone the same but hate, will to kill
If your on one side the other side will want to have your head if they know it.
Bounty hunter will stalk you for money not caring what or who you are.

World should be dangerous, acts cause reactions.

Enought BS with unable to kill:
Start list..

I completely agree with this. If you piss some one off it should matter. However no more mythic dawn sleeper cells. The world should be more dangerous with monster(maybe assassins) who you can not beat from the start of the game. Like fallout New Vegas with the deathclaws just north of where you start.

I think it would make more sense, instead of infamy/fame based or maybe in addition, if they had your guild association come into play. So if you are the leader or a higher up in the Mage's Guild then it should be expected that Necromancers may be trying to kill you. So if you are out in the forest exploring, you may be attacked by a group of Necromancers, perhaps the attacks are more fierce depending on your rank in the Guild, since any member poses a threat to them, but a higher ranked member poses a bigger threat so more bounty would be placed on your head.

Please inform me...

Do imperial agents kill people that are a threat to the empire?

Maybe if your a real bad guy Agents will come after you. And if your a really good guy people you've jailed will hire the dark brotherhood to kill you. (Unless your a member)

Very sketchy and flawed idea I know.

Great ideas, I definitely say yes. I always thought it was really stupid in Oblivion how you could just do anything and everything without anyone coming after you, because all you ever heard were empty threats. The funny thing is, the one exception to that trend ocuurred so surprisingly, I found it to be one of my favorite moments from the game. I don't remember what the quest name was, but it involved the high ranking Imperial officer who gets arrested and sent to the Imperial Prison after you report him for bullying, stealing, or something.

He later escaped, and randomly attacks me when I wake up in the middle of nowhere sleeping at a bandit camp and all he has on are his underwear, a small dagger, and a note detailing how much he hates me for getting him arrested and humiliated!!

That was honestly one of the most shocking, humorous, and creatively realistic quest related events I remember from the entire game, and I would love to see more where that came from in Skyrim. I'm 100% certain that will be the case, as revenge NPC attacks are already confirmed, and they're working on better and more diverse random encounters throughout the world.

All kinds of interesting cause/effect related quests are the essence of where TES is headed IMO, and I think Skyrim will be that much more amazing and realistic because of it.

Sure. I mean, I can go either way, but it would make sense whether you were a good guy or not. If you escaped prison like you did in Oblivion, I would certainly expect someone to come looking for the missing prisoner.

It would just add icing to the cake if they found you and were like, "There he is, the one who-" or "Be careful, he's in the Dark Brotherhood!"

I think that if that were done though, that at some point you should be able to get pardoned or something. You know. For killing Dragons that are attacking towns and whatnot (maybe just for that town?).

No to assassins hunting you for infamy.
Yes to repercussions for wrongdoings against a faction. Now I have no objections against the *occasional* assassin, but there should really be more to it than that. An assassin encounter you're bound to win, right? It is written. How about they steal my horse or some of my stuff when sleeping or give me a disease via poison or whatever? Something more original than just the tedious fights. Maybe faction #2 become hostile towards me for attacking faction #1, because I haven't learned about their pact yet? With these there are greater felt repercussions on my wrongdoings. Yes, probably also more annoying, but makes the gameplay more dynamic. Maybe it's a condition that stays only for a month until it "blows over" and they simply forget about it? Who knows. Be original.
