Should there be people hunting you?

Post » Tue Aug 10, 2010 4:00 pm

What if you were a bad guy with like... 20 infamy (from oblivion) and there would be good hunters trying to hunt you down trying to kill you.
Would you agree to this???

To the example you gave? No. To other forms of being hunted? Yes.

I always thought it would be cool to be tracked down and stalked by a stealth-using NPC. One that would follow me into caves and wait for the opportune moment to strike rather than running in with an axe and a battle cry. Someone who waits until I'm in a battle with a troll or something.

I wouldn't like it if I was just constantly hunted for being infamous. Screw that. Leave me alone. But if it was for a certain quest or something like that, then yeah, definitely.

No. It happened in Fallout 3 and I personally found it to be annoying. Oh look, dangerous people involving other people around me in a gunfight then having the audacity to spill their guts and stain the ground. Jerks... :P

Oh yeah, I would LOVE to be hunted by NPCs - and not just because I was bad all the time.

Perhaps if I choose a certain profession (like thief or assassin) or even if I take a radical magical path, that a quest would start up where bounty hunters / assassins would be sent out against me.

Depends on the implementation, I would love that as a saavy form of quest. :)

I like this idea,i'm all for it,suppose it could work both way's though, good or bad PC.
I play as an assassin or ranger etc,i hunt, stalk etc,i would love the challenge of NPC's doing it to me (test my skill's).
Also with random dragon attacks, and people hunting you,man you would have to keep your wit's...i'd love the challenge :)

I'm for it, but I don't want the hunters to be all-knowing. They might show up in town, follow rumors of your whereabouts, and then search the general area you were last seen, or use evidence other than the All-Seeing AI to guess your destination. It should be possible to mislead and deter hunters.

Yes, yes, and yes.
Bounty Hunters should be hunting you, and dependent on how infmous you are is how strong the bounty hunter will be.
If your truely a menace to society and your infamy is far beyond repair then the elites should be hunting you, along side with the nonamer bounty hunters trying to get fame and fortune.

As a note, Dragonborn (namely the Blades) have been hunted down and killed since after the Empire fell. So you don't have to be a bad guy, but I think it would make it more interesting if there were bounty hunters and assassins trying to hunt you down from time to time for various reasons.

I really don't think a hunt should haunt the PC. After all, either the NPC saves the world or the bounty hunters are all screwed together with the world

It'd better if it's in some rare circumstances or for a quest or something, that'd be nice (and surprising) but if I'm out there, trying to get to the greybeards to take the first step into saving the world, an unknown assassin jumps on me, I'd rather not have a hunter at all

Sure, why not?

Scenario 1: They attack in PC's home. Their corpses are not disposable and annoy the crap out of people, such as myself.

Scenario 2: They act as Mythic Dawn sleeper agents in Oblivion and may kill innocent civilians. In a lowly populated gameworld with hand-placed NPCs, such as Morrowind's and Oblivion's, killing even one or two people has an effect on how populated an area can seem... a negative effect, in my opinion.

Scenario 3: They surprise annoy the PC during an epic moment and ruin the atmosphere.

No.

It got old so fast in Fallout where I got attacked by random mercenaries trying to kill me every 3 days. If they are going to add this make it at least every 14 days or something because THE SAME 3 MERCENARIES EVERY 3 DAYS gets old sooooooo fast.

I like this. It reminds me of Baldur's Gate. Just lived, by the skin of your teeth, and made it in to town, only to have a bunch of mercenaries looking to cut you down. Of course, I like the idea of the stalking, waiting-for-the-opportune-moment, assassin better. Also story sensitive, reasonable reasons for people to be after you. Infamy leading to bounties, relatives of those you have wronged looking for revenge, inter-faction tensions, etc.

Bounty hunters coming after you for slaughtering an entire village of innocents? Sure. It was in Fallout 3, so I wouldn't doubt such a system would make its way into Skyrim.

I would like to be hunted occasionaly I think it would be quite cool. But I want it to be different from fallout 3, once I kill the hunter I shouldn't be hunted anymore. In fallout 3 bounty hunters just kept coming after you and it was really annoying after a while.

Scenario 4:

If they did it right, and not every 3 day's it could lead to some ace encounters.
Like i said, imagine your being hunted by mercs/assassins whoever, than down drops a dragon.
Thats excitment to me,the [censored] would hit the fan....also add bandits and wildlife to that,it could be very interesting at times.
I'm all for it...if done right.

maybe if you got a really high bounty, bounty hunters might start to come after you.

Also, would be cool if you were a vampire to have vampire hunters too. Maybe if you bit a bunch of people in a town, the next day vampire hunters would start to show up and snoop around.
