Should thieves break into your house and steal your loot?

imo it would add a lot more to immersion.

also enable the player to be pickpocketed by other thieves.

Yeah that would be great, and you should also be able to track those stolen items down, through investigating, interviewing witnesses, looking for dropped items and such that belong to certain ppl, asking around to see if anyone knows anything about a robbery, rule out suspects, etc. maybe you find the items still on the robber, maybe you track the items to traders and frencers or ppl who bought them, maybe the thief got arrested and your loot is sitting in a chest guarded by a jailor and a lock, then you have to steal back your own property. There should also be a system to store away objects more securely like a banking system, or you hire a guard for your house but it cost you so much per day to keep him or her on duty?

They didn't but they did. It was a bug.

Once you found him and did the unmarked quest involving him, http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Paladin_Hoss would occasionally be found in your house in Megaton: "On occasion you will wake up to, or randomly find him running into your house, scouting around, then running out. Note that he steals items."

Yes, but there should be a way to protect your stuff with magic, or guards.Picture coming home to a dead thief killed by a magic trap you had on your bedroom door.

That did happen to me, but only after there was a major "misunderstanding" involving an assault rifle and a civilian. Someone needed some ammo, and they went through my crap and stole it. I noticed because Colin Moriarty shouldn't've had an alien atomizer and ammo for it.

Uh...so would having someone kick you in the 'nads every time your character got hit in combat, but I wouldn't want that either and feel equally strongly about my "no" to both.

On one hand. I don't want my stuff stolen. On the other hand, it's sure as heck makes that "Lock" spell seem more useful.

That's what I always thought. Hell, you want to simulate getting burglarized, just put some of your stuff in a respawning container. Ta-daah!

Im not sure how LA Noire plays out, but as long as the have a system in place to be able to track your items down and in different ways with different situations for your items to be in and it being at least realistic and fun, i think NPC being able to at least try and steal your items is an imersive quality in an RPG, plus it brings a real life challenge to the table to show you the world is alive and its not always butterflys and sun shine. Hell maybe you track your stuff to the thief and it turns out that he only stole it because his family is poor and the needed to eat so you let him have it or buy it off him to help the family out and make some new friends that wont try and steal your stuff in the future.

No. That would just become a major annoyance to me. Though I can understand why some may want it.

Yes if you can do it the AI should be able to do it as well or the game doesnt make sense and is imbalanced in preference towards the player. Also if potentially you can get it back WITHOUT STUPID QUEST MARKERS hey i'm not five i can figure things out with a clue or two. But i would just put my stuff in a secure bank, or higher gaurds. See look what i did found another use for banks ingame, loans, weighted gold, AI thieves good stuff.

I can't understand why people would want a game thats imbalanced with preference towards the player.
