I wished the Cyrodilic vampires turned to bats. They have similar qualities as to Dracula. The Keerilth vampires of Valenwood turn to mist. I don't see why turning into a bat is impossible. But for the vampires of Skyrim? No thanks. I rather have them turn into an ice cub rather than a bat.

It may well be, i admit i know next to nothing about ES lore, they don't turn into bats in Tamriel then?

No, you should turn into a flock of bats when you fast travel. Also you can't stop commenting on how ironic everything is.

Of course!

How else could you be a vampire unless you could turn into a bat? We need funny capes, too.

There are many kinds of vampires in Tamriel, but as much as I know, none can turn into bats. Vampires from Skyrim are supposed to be able to go through ice.

Not really, no. Maybe good for a laugh when your uber-character is defeated by an annoyed housewife NPC with a flyswatter, though.

like he said the Cyrodil vampires would have been better for this but the vampires of skyrim just dont fit the bill for it.

Maybe not, but maybe they could have more of the classic vampire powers and vulnerabilities. Sun damage for NPC vampires following you outside, turning to mist through an activated power, controlling thralls, more powers and inherent skill bonuses after feeding for a certain amount of time. That sort of thing. Just look at any Oblivion vampirism mod, there's a hundred things that could be done to make vampirism cooler.

Oblivion vampirism was c**p and had more cons than pros. Someone made an awesome mod called http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WVGXaLy81s which looks fantastic (but probably doesn't fit with TES vampirism lore) and I would much prefer some extra-super abilities that actually make me believe that I have vampire.

Hmm... Personally, I don't see anything wrong or silly with it, but it's probably due to my familiarity with Vampire the Masquerade/Requiem and the feral, shapeshifting and absolutely badass Gangrel clan, which would feel right at home in Skyrim.

I think people associate bat transformation to much with some cheap hollywoodula... However, I don't really appreciate vampires in TES lore whichever way they're portrayed, so no.

THis is one of those cases where we can't just put in real world mythology into the already well established TES mythology. Just because X is a certain way in our world, doesn't mean it has to behave the same way in TES. Clearly, influences exist. But don't get bent out of shape just because it isn't a perfect mirror of what you expect to see.

Yes, however it as two major problems, first if the effect is time limited you better be at ground level then it expires.
Far worse, you cast a spell and turn into a bat and later you want to turn back: and discover that bats cannot cast spells.

For me, it just doesn't seem right in the "time period" we see in The Elder Scrolls. Vampires that turn into bats belong in the 18th, 19th century in my mind... you know, this gothic feeling is missing in a medieval-style fantasy world like Tamriel. Or, I don't know, it might even work in some medieval-style games, but the visual style and also the atmosphere would have to be drastically different. Just... yeah, more gothic. Crooked buildings, a civilization suppressed by both the rulers and the cleric, strong superstition against magic... in such a world, I can see vampires that turn into bats, fly through open windows at night and feed on the poor maiden asleep in her nightgown.

This notion probably seems completely far-fetched and weird. I also have no idea what vampires in Skyrim *should* be like.
