Shoulder Armor?.....and two other things.

Post » Tue Apr 12, 2011 2:47 am

First off. Noticing the new background for TES on this site, the shoulder piece was the first thing I noticed for some reason. I've seen this before but it makes me wonder if there will be shoulder pieces of armor for your character. Or maybe this is just a more detailed version of Dovahkiin. I don't know though cause' there's that image and then there's the Dovahkiin in the trailer without the shoulder piece. What are your guys' thoughts?

And the two other things I want to mention is that I was playing OB earlier on the 360 and jumped over Bruma's wall and travelled to the region of Skyrim. I got pretty far into it and noticed a couple of cool things, even though everything was just painted. But I noticed after walking exactly north of Bruma and about 5 minutes through Skyrim I noticed a VERY large mountain. Maybe the large mountain we see in Skyrim's map? Also as I walked further into Skyrim I could tell the terrain was gradually getting greener. Call me crazy but I thought this was interesting for some reason.

Lastly, when I jumped over Bruma's wall I could see where the north gate was and it was completely see through. And this gave me the idea and I'm wondering what you guys think about open cities? Meaning no loading screens. Only for cities though. I can understand loading screens for caves and all that.

Why are people just noticing this picture. We've had this picture for a long time lol.
But yeah, I hope there is shoulder armor too. I really loved that in Morrowind, one of my favorite features as far as character customization goes, the many armor slots. I surely hope it returns, as do most others.

About Skyrim in Oblivion via glitching the game, I don't think that really means anything. I don't think they really landscaped much in terms of what they want Skyrim to look like in Oblivion if you were to jump over a wall and glitch the game lol. Probably just randomly generated, although heck, I guess I could be wrong, just not very likely.

Open cities are confirmed, just not open interiors/dungeons.

Man do we need a sticky thread.

Edit - typo, I said Oblivion when I meant Morrowind.

Well pauldrons were around in earlier ES games and many would like to see their return in Skyrim. As well as separated left/right pieces. Cities are indeed open in Skyrim as the new engine can support these open cities.

Sounds like they are definitely going for the happy medium between Morrowind and Oblivion. Which is good, there were things I liked in both games.

For sure. I loved Morrowind, and I kind of liked Oblivion for certain things. If they combined the best from both games for Skyrim, it'll surely be the greatest game of all time.

I think that shoulder piece is part of the attire, and not a separate one. This is confirmed by the image of the stealth kill, where a guy is stabbing a Dunmer. The dunmer has this attire, and the shoulder piece is there.

Although there will be layers. That X shaped attire seems to be able to be worn whether you have a cuirass underneath it or not. Theres a pic of a shirtless guy with a horn helmet, and he has this chest piece.

looking at the picture of the dovahkiin from the wallpaper and the trailer, it looks like the spaulder is attached to the rest of his chest piece instead of its own piece of armor. i think their keeping the armor the same way as oblivion.

IDK, I think there's a chance that there'll be Morrowind Level customization. Even if it isn't, Skyrim's going to be amazing.

Agreed, agreed and there is a confirmed features post I started a while back, found here http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1170249-confirmed-features/#entry17246960
