Shoving?

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 8:47 am

I would love the ability to shove people like you can do in GTA IV! when you have nothing equipped in one arm (or both arms), you should be able to go up to people and push them. This would provide a lot of extra entertainment for me. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't care either way. It did provide a bit of entertainment in Red Dead Redemption and GTA 4, but this is Elder Scrolls.

So since it's Elder Scrolls, you can't have a simple function as shoving? It'd make the world a lot more realistic, instead of just running into people and they just stand there and yet move back a couple of feet....

I dunno, I'm kinda on the fence on this one. Any time you get too in-depth in dealing with collisions it opens up a world of extra problems that can occur. Right now all I can think of is the horrible collision handling in COD: Black Ops when you bounce off of people, usually teammates.

If promised, with assurance, that it would be done right then I'm all for it. Otherwise not a big deal, personally.

Ah, but it could provide useful fighting tactics as well as mindless entertainment. Perhaps while engaged in a battle, you can shove your opponent and, depending on their size and build, could knock them over or at least leave them staggering backwards so that you could flee or deliver more attacks on them.

I think this would be good in some ways. In oblivion loads of people would insult you and you couldnt do anything apart from kill them or strike them but then the guards come and well... you know the rest. Would be good if somebody insults you and you could shove them as a warning, or you could shove people to start fights and it could be used to interrogate people into giving you information (if the person you shove is a cowardly npc or has no fighting skill)

No, unless they make it so that said NPC instantly runs to the guards and you get a fine for it and 6 hours in jail, or no fine and 24 hours in jail =P.

Technically this is a forum for the Elder Scrolls. Ya know, where people make sugestions for things they'd like to see, knowing full well the odds of anything they're asking for getting in is tiny.

Unless there's some magic or lore reason why people can't push other people in Skyrim...its a fair sugestion.

I like it. On anyone besides royalty and guards it should count as a warning, but on the aforementioned people it could be an assault charge. It would make fighting a bit more interesting. Can we push the giant chain spike traps too? That would be a funny way to kill someone.

Why not have it as one option for a hand-to-hand interaction?

I wouldn't want it to happen automatically. If I play a weak character and accidentally bump into a huge NPC in a crowded area, I wouldn't want my own character to act up and look for trouble.

Only if it works against you too. IE: Shove guard; get kicked in face spear in belly because you didn't look where you were going except there are no spears so how does it look for shoving now, hotboy?

It's not important to me, but it'd be nice. And agreed with 3-26. Shove a man who's brave and he should shove back. Shove a meek person and watch them avoid walking into you.

Eh, I don't know. I'd be afraid of wanting to talk to someone, walking up a little too close, shoving them accidentally, and getting my disposition with them lowered for no reason.

A Skyrim tavern seems like EXACTLY the kind of place I'd want to shove someone out of my way.

Yes. hated when someone was blocking a doorway especially in morrowind. The shoving should be realistic like Assassins Creed.

Umm, well considering you can't so much as pick something up (with the grab feature) off a shelf in a shop in Oblivion, I'm pretty sure shoving someone would net y-- STOP! It's all over lawbreaker. You violated the law! Pay the court a fine or serve your sentence.

There aren't any train tracks to push people onto, so I don't really see the point.

maybe not shoving, but i do think it would be cool if you reacted a little more realistically when walking close to other people. kind of more like assassin's creed.

Oh come on...Is shoving lore breaking or something...It'll always provide entertainment, regardless of what game. It'd be fun to sprint at people and get knocked down together. It can also be useful for blocking NPC's and stealth attacks.I'm with this all the way.

Don't really care to be honest. I wouldn't be against having it as it brought an interesting element to the Assassin's Creed franchise.
