The thing is that the player is a slave... shanghaied to serve aboard the pirate ship until sold to someone or released in some other fashion (I don't want to get into specifics on that because the player makes decisions that effect the outcome, and foreknowledge would kinda spoil the basic notion. How do you interact with a sinking ship? Welll... I'm glad you asked.
Suppose for a moment that as a slave you were told to undertake some action that started the battle, that you had a great deal riing on the survival of the pirate ship, and that further more when the ship is burning and sinking, you are told to enter the ship, go down a deck or two, and collect the treasure that the pirates are after in the first place.
then suppose that you have a companion slave assigned to go with you, and the treasure is more than you can reasonably carry, the weight, even divided between you is too much, and the water level is rising as the flames (fire does damage) start to cover everything not underwater... You then have decisions to make that will alter the outcome of the "quest" for lack of a better word.
The mod is based on actual forays of historical pirates that include Black Sam Bellamy, Morgan, and others (even Robert Culliver).so you may find yourself undertaking tasks that seem insanely dangerous or complicated. Refusal is not really an option.
