A WIP thread for the community

This is a thread intended for the community as a whole. A place to show and discuss with the community what you are working on without the obligation that a "WIP" thread generally implies, for those who are just not quite to the point where their project warrants a formal "WIP" thread, or for whatever reason you might have for not wishing to start a "WIP" thread.

As this is in the Morrowind modding forum please keep whatever you are showing here limited to Morrowind mods or projects that you intend to implement into your game.

So, lets see what you're up to

So you have the rich people area sectioned off from the slums? I like this very much, it suits the world of ES very well. It's exactly the kind of thing I picture the nobles doing on a routine basis all over Tamriel. Awesome.

I love the windmills and the gallows too. Makes me want to see them all over Vvardenfell.

Well the city has two poor areas, the closed 'redguard' quarter and the lowest part of the city, between farms, barracks and city walls. We have good modellers too, I just place it, and arrange it nicely :)

Oh that Nordic/imperial-like stone forge, wouldnt mind sharing that? It has always bugged me that Imperials use a Velothi style forge :(

Usually once a province mod releases stuff, everyone is free to use it as they give credit. (I think it ought to be like that with ShotN, too)

Couple of screenshots from Mechronmari to share:

Those are Westly's textures, in case you didn't know. They won't come with the mod, but I will recommend using them, as they really make the ruins look fresh, but still very old.

I like the uniformity. There's just enough variation in the look of the buildings. I hate it when they're too similar or too different. Praedator got it just right I think.

Apel is right.

And for me the textures are too realistic/taken from pictures, so it's not so smooth with the vanilla Morrowind textures.

But that Praedator cannot do anything, he is not the texturer of these textures.

Superkitten: I must have this! http://www.automatichamster.com/keening/screens/scrn-quest.jpg

Ieya wants alternate Balmora just for a little bit to take a few screens with before she leaves for Oblivion. It's perfect!

All this, and Hedvidd's corpse laying in the square! SPEAK UP!! It won't be the whole city of Balmora, but there will be a number of quests and enough to make it interesting. Certain character's that you wouldn't expect from Balmora have risen to power in the resistance, while others have joined the sixth house or been turned into corprus monsters. I'm using MCA 6, which includes some interesting 6th house items and creatures.

I've been trying to figure out how people get this kind of photo album on their websites:
http://praedatorsnest.blogspot.com/2012/02/shotn-karthwasten-reach.html

I'd like to display my own screenshots for the KEENING website that way... is there an easy way to grab the code for that?

There'll be plenty more where that came from.

Right click->View Page Source->CTRL+F->image

That ought to help.

@Apel, more texture difference than any other vanilla set (hlaalu, redoran at least) I am no specialist in that field, but to me it looks great.

@Tonal A. Uniformity in style is my aim in any settlement. Coherent but unique in feel, many different arrangements and full uilization of only a few models.

A remake of Thirsk

why a remake?
lore said it's a 100 years great hall.
so, I'm intend to remake the outdoor look as a more unique and big building, and also add more npcs and details to indoor cell.
here is an screenshot about the outdoor look made today.
http://i39.tinypic.com/2r25dld.jpg
this will not conflict with nom 3.03 and original bloodmoon main quests.

A remake of Thirsk

Have you seen this:

Thirsk Expanded
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3461

and this?

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3084

Funny you should make this post right after I visited Thirsk Exanded for the first time. It did seem weird for it to be considered a town with only one real building.

Aw man, I'm so stoked I actually have something to post in this thread for a change.

Thanks to Chaka, Chainy, Dirnae, & AOF I've learned quite a bit of handy stuff about nifskope. I've decided to take a stab at creating reflect maps for the Mournhold windows and I intend to do this for every window in the game at some point using http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=9383 as a base.

After learning and tinkering on and off for a few days I finally have a window I am proud of, and I think with what I have learned the other windows should be a piece of cake. These screens are a quick demonstration:

That's pretty awesome. Looking forward to using them. :)

This has me pondering something: Is it possible to have windows that dim during the day time, and get brighter at night? That would be pretty cool.

Yes. Windows Glow does this through a bit of scripting and has existed for quite a long time. I will be doing maps for all of the Windows Glow meshes, I think. You can find more info about Window's Glow on the Gemini's Textures link I provided in my post, it's one of the 'required' mods.

Yeah, downloaded both of them earlier before I posted. I'd only glanced over the descriptions for them though, so I didn't notice the answer to my question was right there in front of me. :P

These will make a nice addition to my collection, as will your Mournhold windows I think. Too bad Windows Glow requires a plug-in. I prefer plug-in-less, I like to keep my load order to a minimum.

I haven't gotten back into working on anything for a while, but looking through one of my to do/working on folders, I found http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y76/Caultus/animesword_g.jpg I can't remember if I showed it before or not. It's based on some anime style sword from a video game that I saw a picture of (Final Fantasy maybe?). I'm iffy on it in general, but the cup hilt's a complete disaster. :yuck:

I've been (mentally) working on a new idea that in theory should be pretty simple to do, hopefully I'll start work on it over the weekend and get back into the swing of things.... This {expletived}-up fool's still out there. :P
