Thank you for this vid. It was nice to see you experiment with the landscape.
Thanks, I wanted to show how the landscape is being designed and how quickly and easily things can be changed. I've had the volcano/mt idea for some time, and tried it out here, but I probably won't keep it, as I plan to put a city or something above or around that lake.
I'll be putting up another similar video soon showing some newer stuff, and eventually, when the time comes, some videos of the mod being made in the CS.
Please tell me you have backups of your projects. I'm so scared after what happened to ZackG and some of MidgetAlien's work.
No not really. I see everything I've done over the past 5+ years as just me learning how to mod, so that I can oneday make the things that I want to make. I doubt much or any of it will be finished or released, but the skills I learnt from doing them will be put to use into something better. Maybe that's a mod like Moonshadow, or a series of smaller mods, or maybe it's a career in game design or something, I don't know yet.
If I ever lost everything, I doubt that would stop me from modding. It would probably set me back for a bit, but as long as the ideas are around I think anything can be rebuilt, and it gives you an excuse to go back and redo it better.
I've been (slowly) working on Moonshadow since 2006, and have always known that I wouldn't be able to make it the way I imagined without first learning how to mod, model, texture and all the other stuff. I think that I am at a stage now where I have most of the skills and tools to make it closer to how I imagine, which is why I am working on it again.
