Showracemenu and Rens

Post » Tue Jun 22, 2010 12:35 am

I loaded Rens hair pack, and made a change to my character's hair. Because there was so much clipping I decided I didn't want to load this pack this time around.

When I went to reload the save (with the Rens showing in the character) I got in and got the monk's hair. I thought ok no problem. I'll go to Showracemenu and change it back to the original hair I had. The problem I'm having is Oblivion is crashing when I do this - there seems to be no way for me to use this particular save.

Is there any way around this, to fix my hair without crashing?

(p.s. I have a backup save before I started mucking around with it, so I'm good there but I need to know if there's a way I can fix the other save file, if there's any way at all.)

Re-enable the mod and change the hair to one of the vanilla ones before disabling it again. Alternatively, you can use Wrye Bash to fix the save. (On the Saves tab, right-click on the save and pick Repair hair.)

I had the same hair problem. Tried almost everything and was about to give up.

But then I tried the Wyre Bash fix, as falchya points out above, and it fixed the hair wonderfully.

Oh thanks! I'm learning all these little things about Wrye Bash - thanks!

EDIT: Oh - I tried the WB fix and it says "No Repair Necessary". -- I closed WB and brought it back up again. Same thing. Why? Still having the same issue with the save.

Wow, I'm surprised. Because I had the exact problem you did when using CCR and CCR-EE. Monk's hair on the character and a crash with showracemenu.

Maybe try with and without RENs mod installed?

Might get better answers in the mod forum. I'll request a move.

Well I did the "load Ren's hair mod and then change the hair back to vanilla hair" way. I couldn't get the WB way to work. Not sure why WB didn't work but everything's good now.
