After playing Fallout 3, I also became very interested in the post-apocalyptic genre.

I really like a podcast called "Through the Aftermath": http://throughtheaftermath.blogspot.com/

Check out the podcast backlog. They talk about wide variety of topics!

Mad Max
Mad Max: The Road Warrior
Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome
Mad Max: Fury Road (In pre-post-production hopefully it will be just as good as the first three)

Wow! I didn't know there was a new Mad Max movie coming out! How did that slip my notice?
Thanks for posting that, I'm going to go look it up now.

Good running list so far guys, I'm going to add a few of those movies/tv series to my netflix account and enjoy some post-nuclear entertainment. And keep em' coming if you think of any others.

The movie Fido reminds me a lot of Fallout, it's the same kind of 50's style alternate future. Only instead on the world being nuked it's taken over by zombies, so all of the cities are surrounded by fences and whenever someone dies they put a collar on them so that whenever they into a zombie they can be controlled. It's really quite an odd movie but it's a good watch if you're really bored on a rainy day during your vacation to the Dominican Republic. I'm still wondering what it was doing on Latin American television in the first place.

EDIT: My favourite quote from the movie: "Timmy you can't have your zombie out without a leash!"

Definitely the old movie Logan's Run. Also takes place in the post-apocalyptic D.C. area. Although nothing of it is mentioned on the Fallout Wiki I've seen a number of things in the game that I think may have been influenced by it.

I guess the other series that I would add might be the resident evil movies. Not quite fallout, but the last movie has a wasteland feel to it.

Mad Max series. (Ever really looked at his armor?)

Everyone in here needs to read the book "The Road" by Corman McCarthy.

That needs to be played on Spike TV's "Movies that don't svck". Its like one of those movies they would play, movies that are low budget but have awesome story lines. However I never seen that movie, but I do like Vandamme movies...I love that movie with him in it called "Universal Soldier".

I have been trying to find fallout type things to watch so I was wondering what movies and shows remind you of fallout the most, I'll go first:

Series:
I found a series called Jeremiah on my xbox netflix account that was shown on Showtime a couple of years ago. This show reminded me of fallout becasue its all about a devastated world after a virus has left the most of Earths population destroyed. Raiders are everywhere in this show and its a struggle just to survive. Throughout the series the main character goes from place to place helping others (much like the lone wanderer). Most places are ghost towns or full of enemies that want your stuff. There is even a group of the former government militants that want to bring everyone under their control (Enclave anyone?). Anyway the show really reminds me of fallout and is pretty good so far.

Movie:
The movie Book of Eli also reminded me of fallout because of its world being after a nuclear war, every commodity being very important (especially water), and the main character being attacked by raiders all the time. I won't go into explaining it much because its a relatively new movie and I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

Your turn!

I went to that movie all hyped because I thought Van Damme would BE the cyborg. There are few if any cyborg movies and I think it is a cool idea (and most likely the next step in human evolution). I was disappointed when it just turned out to be a chick with a laptop stapled to her head.

I think Fallout was mostly based on the movie: "A boy and his dog", a post-apocalyptic future movie from 1975. In the original FO-series there where alot of references to cult books/movies.

Anyways that new movie: "The Book of Eli" has alot of Fallout elements IMO.
I did not see it yet, only the trailer.

That old show; X-Files always reminds me of Fallout. I dont know why really, it's not post-apocalyptic, but it takes place in DC (most of the time) and the atmosphere is grey-brown and depressing.

The Island was just a remake of Logan's Run.

Post-apocalyptic movies tend to be pretty much of a muchness. Although Kevin Kostner took a hammering over Waterworld and The Postman, he really contributed to the genre, and should be appreciated for that. Too many apocalypse movies these days like to have a feel good warm and fuzzy 'humanity prevails' theme ending.

I'd be interested to see how the next Max movie plays out, I tend to think it might be a bit over the top and rely on surrealism rather than substance.

Actually the Island was a direct rip off of 'The Clonus Horror'. I believe they were even successfully sued over it.

You loled so it must be.

There's really nothing I can add that's not already been mentioned. The biggest one for me was The Book of Eli. Most of it looked like how Paradise Falls would be envisioned on film I imagine...The scenes in the trailer of him moving through the destroyed raised highways and 'raiders' made me think at first that the settings must have been heavily taken from Fallout. They're too close not to be...

True, very true. You should see it if you haven't...the trailer is what got me to want to watch it in the first place. Theres a lot those raider type people all though the movie, and there is any one part he goes to a guy's store in town and trades his supplies for goods. Also the beginning part with the cat....I can't mess it up for anyone that hasn't seen it, so I want say anymore about the movie. But its a must see, if your a Fallout fan. Think of like this though, it doesn't take place in a 50's type future but this movie is more of a modern believable world. With ideas that seem like they got right off Fallout.

If there was a close enough movie I've seen to a Fallout film, its this one.

True, it was a most excellent movie that I encourage all fallout fans to watch. There is alot of similarities.
