Shut up! shut up! shut up!

Aaargh! Piper shut the [censored] up or I'm going to shoot you in the face!

I'm sneaking around one of the more iconic places in the game* and Piper has just said the same damned line at least 20 times in about a minute!

*

Spoiler
the Constitution

If there is ever a mod I need right now it's a Shut the [censored] up! mod, also drive me crazy that companions just have to say one of their witty remarks when you're sneaking around somewhere.

Would love it is companion go into "silent mode" when ever I'm in sneak mode and I assume them saying the same damn line a gazillion times in a row is a bug.

Yes I'm just venting here but aaargh come on! Anyone else getting annoyed with overly vocal companions?

Why do you carry all those bottlecaps? They jingle like crazy!

Bet you don't have anything as dangerous as yao-guai where you come from...

Do people really live in a giant thunder lizard?

Why do you carry all...

*BLAM*

*You have started Chaos in Zion*

I hear you, brother.

Heh, Strong is even worse then Piper. Every time I show up at Red Rocket I hear him complaining non stop about finding the milk of human kindness. (Which is just a little creepy if you think about it long enough)

I am amazed every time the other 25 people in that settlement dont get together with the plasma guns I've given them and take him out. I can just hear it now.

Umm, boss? There was this raid you see, and these raiders, and Strong fought valiantly, but they all *cough* had plasma weapons and he seems to had misplaced...*eye twitches* his.

Piper annoys me enough when she's not my companion.

I also get the same problem with Strong, he literally goes through all his lines of dialogue non-stop when he's not your companion.

and again i get the same problem in that certain place when i had Cait with me (she literally repeats the same line over and over), so im guessing theres a bug there too.

Strong annoys me the most. He's always yammering about how he wants to find 'milk of human kindness' or how he wants to smash/eat someone. If it's not that, he whines about how there's not enough Super Mutants and how Super Mutants will soon kill everything.

Seriously considering relocating him to Hangman's Alley (where I never go) and pretending he doesn't exist in my game.

The other two that I find annoying are:

Cait- Hey, I like her but even I get irritated when she starts talking about how "There's nothing better than getting pissed and starting a fight, am I right?" etc. over and over and OVER again. I get it, you like to fight and get drunk, now SHUT UP! The worst part was when she was with me in a factory for a random quest and she kept whining about the smell. We're in a centuries old abandoned factory occupied by feral ghouls, of course it's going to smell horrible! SHUT UP!!

Piper- I literally caught her asking herself, "What's the angle here?" to a frickin' mailbox. Or saying for the tenth millionth time about how people are just looking for a hand and all we gotta do is offer.

The Vault-Tech guy, while not a companion, irritated me to no end so he was the first to go to Hangman's Alley.

Come to think of it, Hangman's Alley may very well be my dumping grounds for annoying companions.

Yeah, she did say that line about two dozen lines during that quest :lmao:

But since she was a lot quieter in other places, i think it's a bug

Hopefully there will come a mod for this, before I start using the human companions on my next playthrough. Using Dogmeat so far because of Lone Wanderer perk, and he is ok quiet, beside the occasional bark when he finds something interesting.

AI for Dogmeat needs a workover tho, boy he can get in the way sometimes, and it is so annoying when he walks away when you try to interact with him :D

I'm just gonna put him in the Alley and role-play that I'm appointing him as its sole protector.

You know what's worse?

Having every single companion at Red Rocket.

Yes, I did that. Yes, they all talk at the same time. It's hilarious, in a really, really painful way.

Only time I got really irritated was during the USS Constitution quests - my companion kept saying the same one line of dialogue over, and over again. I swear it was about once a minute.

Was bailed out by the fact that those missions were pretty fun, and the ending of it is hilarious.

Why do you keep her around if she annoys you? For the friends with benefits?

i have a dog that resembles dogmeat a lot and the behavior of the dog (since he's a dog) is actually very realistic

dogs can be very smart and very loyal...but they rely on humans, u NEED to tell him what to do sometimes xD

especially in confrontations, a dog's natural instinct is to immediately charge towards a hostile threat (he's protecting you)

if you want him to do something different, then you need to tell him

Also, when just walking the dog runs point (this is great, what he's supposed to do), if you crouch to sneak, the dog will follow a short distance behind you

it takes a half a second and hitting 'e' twice to get the dog to stay/follow and you can do it from a pretty good distance...

ppl plz try to play around with the abilities of your companions and actually TRY to utilize them xD

if you just want a party member with totally independent AI just to be a bullet shield or kill enemies for you without you having to do anything then you're looking in the wrong place xD

take the extra 5 seconds and actually tell your companion what to do, i guarantee you will enjoy the game more xD

totally agree, i was actually thinking about posting this...i like the dogmeat reference, but am kind of disappointed they used it because it is kinda out of place and yes i absolutely want to be able to give the dog a name, especially since i have a real dog that greatly resembles Dogmeat; hell sometimes i can't tell if the dog sounds are coming from the game or my real dog xD

I have yet to partner with any Beth companion that was not more worry than their worth. Albeit man, beast, machine or otherwise. Ensuring they stay out of the way demands constant commands of wait and go. This directly translates into covering an area twice due to constantly back-tracking to keep them up.

Honestly, I think the repeated comments on the USS Constitution is a bug. Like a "SayOnce" flag or whatsit was mistakenly not set.
