I think mods like that might be a six thing, not sure. It could be that the person didn't know how to get a good follower into the game but they knew how to change appearances of one so.. yeah.

I see screenshots where people are running around with these playboy-bondage-looking female followers and I can't get my head around it. I don't understand how pr0n-looking followers and Fallout are a good mix.

Different tastes are rampant among modders. Expect it - embrace it, and move on with your life.

And it's not always about race, you git. Some people have their preferences, and if a person wants to change madame Cross to another race, that's their prerogative. Whatever their reasons, it's not anyone's place to criticize their tastes.

:EDIT: I think this thread will have a short lifespan, now that I think about it.

Ever wonder why no one ever changes Bittercup's race? Or any of the other non-black females? Or if there is a racial change its always to Asian or Latina -- never black?

How come they are always picking on Paladin Cross? They can't modify her and keep her black. They have to change her race! And its always HER. The BLACK one!

Whatever. Could you 14 year-old kids stop creating useless threads just to excrete your frustrations? There'a other methods for that on the internet. And, uh... another mod with pathetic fetish pics... I hate them. The pics that is. Go download some porm, for blood's sake.

I was wondering about this one myself. Maybe the Ops post is a tad inflammatory.. But yeah it has been a very odd phenomenon imho. Sometimes the wording used in such mods makes me scratch my head. Is it really "fixing" her? O.O???

edit: I have a strong feeling its all just an odd misunderstanding...

You heard it here folks, Raziel has announced his support for internet porm.

You know now you can't run for public office without your opponent going OMG?!

But yeah, this thread is pointless, there are lots of people in this wordl, some are sixist, some are racist, some are just plain douches. Has always been, and seemingly it will always be.

Wait! The stereotype of male PC gamers being middle aged white guys who love their porm and the Barbie doll aesthetic that accompanies it couldn't have an ounce of truth to it, could it? :ooo:

Actually, I dunno what the deal is either.*shrug* But the modding community is all about freedom and individual preference. I don't have to understand why one guy likes a certain kind of mod, and I don't care if you don't understand why I like what I like in my modded game. We don't need to understand each other.

I agree that this seems to be the trend...

I was glad to bring a NEW BLACK follower into the mix in Phalanx. And I even gave her a name that's specific to african americans. And, her skin tone is dark.

If I bring another male human follower into it, he will be black.

(I don't have a thing for one particular race, I just preferred it this way based upon what was there. And I think they did great with Cross in that she is a strong, powerful black woman.)

There's nothing to much to stop white power freaks from using the GECK

I do occasionally check up on extremist sites to see what they plots they are trying to hatch next and the matter has actually come up for discussion

I don't know if any of these mods are connected but we might see a version of the Turner Diaries being run on the FO3 engine and distributed "underground"

So you're offened because there may possibly be some racist modders out there? I know it's hard to believe, but Fallout 3 fans aren't all saints and nuns. I feel racism is wrong, but I'm not flaming the creators, and here's why; it doesn't affect me. You don't have to download it, and if you don't like it, big whoop! The creator made it for himself, and only himself, but put it on the nexus just because.

Just drop the subject dude. Now, when a mod comes along that changes Three Dogs race, then you may have something to complain about. But this is just silly.

Some people just have preferences. I don't think it's a racial thing. And there a plenty of mods that alter Bittercup, maybe not her race, but they're there.

I can't believe some of you are jumping to the conclusion that the makers of these mods are racist.

I don't understand why some people feel that the OP is being out of place by bringing up this apparent fact. And he's not allowed to be displeased with it either.

This is a mods discussion forum so, yah know...

What apparent fact? That a lot of people like having Cross as a companion but don't like the way she looks? Like I said, preference.

No. The trend of moving a black character (Cross) to being something else, whereas say, sydney and clover are generally not.

The OP clearly feels they are racist, and it's entirely possible they are. But my point was that the OP shouldn't care if they are or not, because he doesn't need to download them.

Think of it this way. There are roughly 200 countries in the world today. A large majority of those countries don't have many people of African descent. If a specific person finds a companion they like (in this case Cross) but want to change her to resemble a type of woman that they've been attracted to all of their life, they can't do that? It makes them racist?

If this was the case, why don't we have mods that change Simms? Three Dog?

Personally, I don't think her race matters all that much, since it has nothing to do with her character at all, and the voice is used for women of all races ingame. Of course, I leave her as an African American anyway, just with more feminine features and a better haircut (and a custom mod that turns off ALL of her idle pvssyr to make her a bit more likeable and, well, professional :P). I do, however, find it a bit silly that people take a veteran, aging, militaristic, elite Brotherhood paladin and turn her into a young beauty queen who wears skimpy outfits. Isn't that what Clover is for?

Still, to each their own. It's just a mod, and if you appreciate lore and the original ethnicity of NPC's, then simply don't download it. There are far worse mods on Nexus that warrant controversy than a Cross-beauty-queen plugin.

Clover is also equally changeable but she's not the one that people pick to do this to, generally. Does it make them racist? Depends on your definition.

If this was the case, why don't we have mods that change Simms? Three Dog?

They are almost impossible to turn into followers, even for someone who knows how to do it (not assuming sharing&caring). And they aren't voice-acted as females. Two big strikes against them.
