sick of the gliches...

Post » Thu Jun 06, 2013 4:43 pm

to bethesda under australian law when we buy a game[skyrim] or a concole we enter into a contract where we agree to not tamper ajust ,modify or change the game in anyway and you are to supply the said game in working order, well i think you've broken that contract by supplying a incomplete game in that it freezes and has huge sound gliches this in turn causes stress this is not good enough as you can lose hour's of game play due to your failure to provide a product that works properly,i have got to level 70 when started a black book and now i have a sound that is over powering and make the game crap to play to go back to a safe save point i'll have to go back to level 56 wtf, patch it please this is not good enough as i have two copies of the game both with all dlc plus two walk through book's thats well over 200$ in your pocket and nothing but problems for us,we love skyrim in our house so this is just to tell you i hope you get it right with the next tes game.....

You can't blame the developers because you don't employ smart save game strategies.

What is an example of a smart save game strategy?

I am being serious, because I am getting ready to start a new game.

Save when you've done, or are in the process of doing something tedious and time-consuming; make a save prior to doing something that you're unsure of, such as the Blood on the Ice quest, to prevent it from breaking.

Save.

... and save often.

Not just that, but in strategic situations. Like..

  • Before entering a dungeon
  • Before entering another cell within the dungeon.
  • Before and after a Boss fight.
  • Save after you have trekked for 10 or 15 minutes across large open area.

Save before initiating a quest in case it is bugged. If you find it has been glitched in some unforseen way revert to your save before hand and try it again. Blood on the Ice is a good one especially to do this with as doing it out of order will cause it to glitch.

Save after a big battle so you won't have to go through it again if something goes wrong and you die.

Save oftenn if you've traveled a long distance so that if somethuing unforseen happens you won't have to start all over again.

Save before taking radiant quests, if you don't like the one you get then revert to your save and try again. Radiant quests are often random so doing this a time or two may get the one you want.

Just use common sense mostly

There are 3 autosaves. And they are customizeable. So no need for a strategy.

It's just good sound habits to get into. It is best to disable all autosaves and force yourself into making "new saves" in lieu of overwriting existing saves.

Thread completely derailed.

On topic:
The game works just fine. I doubt Australian law, or any other law for that matter, demands that everything be glitch free. That's almost impossible anyway, due to the enormity of system variety out there.

No it didn't.

It's not as much about the game having glitches as it is about his closest savefile for it was 14 levels back. Which means he either didn't save properly or he played with an annoying sound bug for those 14 levels of gameplay.

That and one of the posters here is trying to gather sound playing info so he can start the game and play it intelligently so we're helping him out.

It shouldn't be up to the end user, to make sure they play the game in such a way as to allow for the developers failure.

Sounds like a problem with your hardware.

So, probably not Bethesda's fault. Try suing Asus or Dell instead. Or buying new parts, since a lawyer would cost you waaaaaaay more than a new motherboard.

It's about having a sound gameplay to control the inaccuracies the game provides. The game is buggy, crying about fixes now is not going to get 16 levels back. Preventive maintemence will lessen the hardships you may subcome. There will bo no more patches. You can't control that. You can only implement good practices. This you can control.

I know, but my point stands. We shouldn't have to play a game to compensate for developmental issues.

And no, this isn't my first Bethesda game. The first TES I played was Daggerfal, years ago. They've always been dodgy at best, I just accept it. That doesn't make it right though.

I think one should realize exactly what a complex structure that Skyrim is. All in all, it's not that bad. I mean sure there are quirks and instabilities, but as a whole... it plays well for most people. These instabilities are usually a result of the equipment of the end user.

It is what it is. There will never be a bug free TES. Maybe clos... but never perfect for every platform for everybody.

The OP doesn't read as much about a complaint thread for bugs as it is, he is ticked off because he lost those levels. Had he saved better or addressed the issue beforehand, he might be enjoying the game right now and not drowning his sorrows knee deep in a bottle of Mezcal.

EDIt : I mean, I get where you're coming from, but what choice do you have? You either play on a platform that can address the issues directly or you work around them. It's sad but true.

I agree, honestly I was just wanting to head off the bandwagon that seems to take off around here at times, particularly when people are (rightfully) critical of Skyrim or Bethesda.

I think that Bethesda could do better than what they do, with regards to bugs, glitches and stability. Especially when they're dealing with consoles - an unstable console game is quite serious in my opinion.
As for the unstable PC versions, well... It's an inherent issue with using PC's to play games. I just accept it and be thankful the PC has the ability to rectify the situation. A convenience not afforded to those using consoles.

Not only that, but if you haven't figured out by level 56 that you need to save often, on various save files, then you just haven't been paying attention.

There was really no failure in this regard. I'm not denying the existence of bugs, but the existence of bugs doesn't equate to failure on the developers part.

If that's the case, then every developer in the history of video games has failed.

If you are low level and you see a pair of Sabre Cats- Save quickly before walking forward. It will save a lot of hassle.

Save often.
make a new save every time and delete the previous save. (Never overwrite a save)
Save before fights and after fights.
save before changing cell then save after entering the cell.
have auto save on as much as possible. (every 5 minutes on character menu)
Dont do too much stuuf at once, or the game might crash.

That's all well apart from auto saves. I never have any auto saves on at all. I get more problems when having auto saves on. They also copy over each other too. Just get used to saving manually as suggested by others. I stay away from any of the auto saves personally.
