I am sick of this

Post » Wed Sep 22, 2010 2:10 am

I am sick of seeing people of this community slag off some of the confirmed features of the game, some are game changing yes but as a community, moderators admins even developers never like to spend a hard day of work to maybe pop on the forum and feel like oooo they'll love what we've done to the menus and then all the person can read from top to bottom is complaint after complaint. Were meant to support the devs, give them constructive feedback and not generally take them down for their hard work. I for one so far am looking forward to skyrim very much. The unique setting, confirmed information is just a blessing yet others see it as another means at stabbing at a game that to them is far from perfect when its perfect in the eyes of others. We can't get what we all want, not even the devs can due to the time span. They have to look at what is good and put what priorities they have. I get annoyed with people going like 18 SKILLS?!?! IS THAT ALL GOD NOT BUYING IT NOW and stuff like that, if we are true TES fans we all inside our hearts know this is bethesda's baby and they won't muck it up but merely evolve it :)

Role on Skyrim......your thoughts?

I was thinking the same thing... until I saw no spell making. Then I did a 180 because we have reason to be worried, its not like the devs are confirming or denying our concerns!

I do understand where your coming from there but still we must keep faith because they havent properly discussed the magic system to the full extent merely chucking all of us in the deep end.

people have the right to post what they feel, and any expression of a TES fan is valid no matter how in articulate. besides, you can't just generalize people who are genuine concerned about major changes to the parts of the game that they liked as - not true tes fans.

Complaining about complaints serves no purpose, this is a forum, for discussion, not for circlejerking about how awesome everything is.

Blind faith is not my cup of tea, thanks.

I'm going to kill him out of principle, and because he's a jerk ass who I suspect of being a chosen of Tzeentch.

The menu becomes more console-oriented, spell-making is gone, Todd's inspired by Conan, it doesn't look good.

well. if we all said "yeah love all of it" all the time, this forum would never have to exist. of course some of the posts look alot more like crying than real feedback, but still. we need them to know when we're not happy with something ;)

that said, i agree with people needing to be a bit more optimistic here :)

Note to the OP: The moderators don't have a single thing to do with developing the games.

And nah, there's nothing wrong with the fans being hard on gamesas. I mean, we're buying a product. This isn't toady one and Dwarf Fortress. This isn't some free indie game. It's a game that will cost 50-60 bucks, with about 10-40 dollars worth of DLC, and will earn gamesas millions. We have every right to be hard on them. We're customers after all.

How dare people post about decisions they don't like?! The devs had a hard day at work, so everybody should pretend they like things they feel are steps in the wrong direction! I think all negative opinions should be deleted by the mods and the perpetrators banned. Then we can get around to having a big circle jerk over how Skyrim's going to be the bestestest game evar and Todd Howard can do no wrong!

Yer i know what you mean but I said constructive feedback which isnt along the lines of Change it now! .....rather is there a way you guys at gamesas can get round this problem

And to others, sorry yes I know moderators aren't part of it, I forgot to seperate the paragraph out to make more sense :)

Spell making being gone does not bother me, it bugs me in the long run a tad but isnt truly a disaster along with consolized menus i can cope with as well and were aiming low fantasy they are inspired by other low fantasy material.

"M'aiq hears that people want to make their own spells. M'aiq thinks this is silly; creating a new spell is a dangerous thing. No thanks, M'aiq will stick to tried-and-true spells instead."

The complaints aren't just because "hey, they're cutting this feature that we like out!" it's "Hey, you've been dumbing down TES since Daggerfall! You do it anymore, and we'll bring these forums down in flames!"

Don't try to deny it, TES since at least Morrowind has been becoming more mainstream. While this brings in the big bucks for ZeniMax, we traditional/old-time fans of TES series feel insulted and forgotten- at least take our wants into consideration rather than streamline The Elder Scrolls to the point where it looks nothing like the series that we fell in love with. All we're hearing from above seems to convince us that this is indeed the case- gamesas/ZeniMax no longer cares about the people who helped make The Elder Scrolls one of the biggest RPGs of all time.

hmmm. So far Beth has done/will do most of what I would like to see in a future TES game.

That said, quality is more important than quantity; which I realize has a quality all its own.
9 really good skills are better than 27 half-made skills.
85 really well made spells are better than a Spell Creation System with only mediocre effects.
10 very well thought out enemies are better than hordes of differently skinned enemies with the same dumb AI.

Of what I would like to see but am not likely to see in SkyRim ...
Random Dungeons ala Daggerfall
Modifiable environments perhaps like Arena, or MineCraft.
Playable music instruments/music MiniGames
Manageable allies.

Hopefully the puzzles in Skyrim will actually challenge my intellect. Aleyeid ruins had so much potential...

You do realize that this is a message board, right? The point of a message board is to discuss, in this case, a computer game. If you don't like differing opinions on a subject, the last place you should be spending your time is on an internet message board.

I think the game is looking pretty good so far. Haven't really been disappointed by anything. Everyone is acting like doomsday is upon us.

The Elder Scrolls series is changing. Which is a good thing. The core principals of the gameplay are still there, but the details are changing. This is a good thing! It's an ever evolving franchise. I don't see why people are complaining so hard over a feature or two that is not going to be in. It's really not that big of a deal. I will judge Skyrim as a whole when I actually get the game, not by the random tidbits we get 10 months before release.

the consoles sell more copies, so it kind of makes sense that they would start building things to revolve around the console version. mean while they can leave the improvements for pc version to the modders, which is kinda lazy and they've been doing it more and more. but by the sound of it the Kit will have alot of improvements from CS, looking forward to that.

I get your point. I'd like to say I've probably never been so excited for a game before, and so far I've seen way more good info than bad info.
While criticism is important, it's also important to show appreciation for what good stuff they've shown us thus far.
I could complain about things like fast travel being in the game but in the end I know that Bethesda are professionals and is better than me in knowing what will be successful and what won't be.

Welcome to internet forums, the place where the vocal minority come to play.

I too am disturbed by some of the things I am seeing in the info that is being slowly dribbled out but I am waiting at least until E3 when most of the info will be public (including more screenshots and gameplay videos). The thing I am most concerned about is how it plays on a PC. I want my PC games to feel like PC games. Beth will explain their thinking in time.

I have played them all for many years and I know where your coming from hence how I said constructive feedback but this over the top reaction which is just out of order, Of course they're things I wish to be in the game or changed but we can't all have that.

No. I will complain about whatever I want.
I'm sick of having to go in denial mode every time there is new info.
