ive actually noticed improved performance since the update, as well as alot of fixes to annoying bugs.

the only annoying thing now though is that the automated citizen thing, since actually working now, is constantly tweaking jobs so that one turn i will have +8 gold and then -17 the next. now i make sure that i lock all of my citizens into the tiles i want to be worked.

-I'm much better at playing with someone else against the computer, than against them..
I tend to get my psychological warfare game on when I play against other people.. send the other players random chat messages like 'here comes another nuke!!' and 'you didn't even notice me do that, did you?' when there's nothing happening.. /evil.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

so yeah, much better at playing with people.. /hehe.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hehe:' />

Lol. I'm so happy to have Civ 4 back I just love ot play it /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />. That being said I do "cheat" sometimes I must admit, I'm sorry but when I own an entire coastline and someone founds a settlement in the three-squares I just don't own it pisses me off; that and what I call "strategic distribution", basically to assist my computer, when a Civ becomes so small and basicaslly in-effective I just WB it out of existance and divvy up it's settlements between those Civs whom would likely swallow it up - just to make things easier on the processor.

Just read through that Civ 2 playthrough above, damn... I think my world was heading there. It was the early industrial period and CHina had 4 vassel stated Japan, Mongolia, Perisa (who was "re-distributed) and Alexander, the Celtic Empire covered Western Europe, Western and Southern Africa and the whole East Coast of South America - Fredrick and the German's were powerful too, surrounding and everntually murdering the Russians.

I started a game of Civ 5 a few days ago. 21 AI and 40 city states on a huge map playing Deity. I am about 7 hours in right now.......Since I started in the Information Era, pretty much 3 turns in everyone had nukes. Very interesting so far.

I do enjoy playing with a small group of friends. Though I am waiting for most of them to get Gods and Kings, I really do enjoy what it added to the game.

Also, just noticed a Civ IV and Civ V bundle is on sale for http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006UHIPPE/ref=s9_simh_gw_p367_d0_g367_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=0HDGCHS8NJYY77BKPTCR&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938811&pf_rd_i=507846 Great deal.

Just a question, would this be the thread to talk about Galactic civilisation?

Yeah I noticed that, really wish I could see some of those features on Civ 4. Sure I have Boudica on 4 but I had to download a Mod to have something like Druidism in the game /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />.

i can't see why not.

I personally only played that game a little bit, about 5 to 6 hours i think. did not really get into it much. It felt like a game of attrition, with how rare resources were even if you max out that setting.

I think I played Civ Rev for about a half hour total. Once I realized how incredibly small the map was compared the the PC version, I just could bring myself to finish a game.

Yes, I play quick matches in Civ 5 with friends and family from time to time, usually tiny/duel map, no battle animations, no A.I. or barbarians, with a turn auto-timer. Each game usually lasts only a couple of hours, and you can save and pick up another day where you left off.

Also played a bit with some super hardcoe people who do tournaments and they mopped the floor with me.

Civ Rev was such a tease to us it's not funny. Civ V is overal meh, mostly because it requires a good graphical interface. I can't really 'play' it. though Civ IV has better playability.

Plus Rhyes and Fall. Vehk Rhyes and Fall...

Hey guys, recently got Civ IV. My only previous contact with the Civilization series was playing Civilization Revolution on the 360. Is it possible to combine units into "armies"? In Revolution, you could take like three warriors and form them into one giant unit with combined strength. Is that possible in Civ IV?

I just beat a game in Civ 5 by Science victory. I found that it was long work but easy work. I managed to finish the space ship before anyone else had even advanced to the Modern Era.

Why was this so easy? It wouldn't have been too much harder on another difficulty, I had 90+ Happiness. Are all victories so easy?

/blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> that even possible. i imagine you would have to be at peace with every one while making several trades of luxuries, and be allies with most of the city states. even then...

I generally have a happiness problem when trying to expand with settlers, it usually takes trading with two other civs and having at least 3 city state allies with luxuries to stay afloat at 5 happiness, give or take.

What difficulty?

Your happiness depends on a few factors; like social policies, number of cities, world wonders and buildings, resources, difficulty level, etc. I don't expand that much so my happiness is usually pretty high, if you have a lot of cities or some occupied cities it would be lower.

I don't see the point of a diplomatic victory in Civ 5... it requires that you advance very far into your tech trees, so you may as well just go for science and not have to worry about giving luxury goods to competing civs or whatever. Can anyone explain why you would want to lead the UN for me?

I got my diplomatic victory before even finishing the tech tree, and I had the highest science output in the game.

I'm looking to get a hard copy of Civ IV off of Amazon, but there are two I am stuck between.

Should I get the gold version for $7? Or the Complete Edition for $12 and imported from the UK. (I'm in the US)
