Ah, I found something.:)
When I equip my Companion Share Npc with a pack, I get asked if I'd like to use the pack temperately or equal it to his container, which is fine.
But the message box pops up 5 times before taking affect, is this something on my end?
The companion had another, un-activated, backpack in his inventory, could that be a problem?

Activating a pack on the ground works like a charm.:)

this is an issue with that companion mod. someone else reported this too.

could you please write exactly what the messagebox prints? i'm not sure if we are talking about the same message...

this mod maybe uses a questionable way to store items in the companion's inventory. the message pops up only once when added. this means your mod adds the items 10 times somewhere! if i find the time i will have a look at it...

Hm, allright, had some more experience with the event.
It seems to me that it happens during the weight measuring of the companion-chest, which is done right after closing it.
I'm guessing that the backpack deciding script is ran at the same moment?
Could it be that timing your script a second or so afterwards, might solve the prob?

Furthermore,
in interior locations the amount of message boxes is 10, in exterior 30 to 35(which is where it get's kind of annoying;p)!

as i said, the backpack script runs exactly once when it's added and only after all inventory windows are closed. so it must be added 35 times to a container. this has nothing to do with timing. most likely your mod adds ALL ITEMS 35 times somewhere, maybe every time you access an inventory. this may be a bug or even lead to save game bloat. i just took a look at the script... it uses a not so nice way to calculate the encumbrance... but i can't see where the problem is that quickly.

i won't change my script to fit this mess, sorry.

but you could ask the author if he wants to optimize his mod. i would give him the code for getting the weight or may even help if this is not the only problem... the mod sounds promising though!

Alright, I'll ask, though he's currently primarily modding for Fallout 3.
Odd though, I've known Toasty to make solid quality mods.

Thanks for checking it though.

this means nothing. we often have to use really weird workarounds to get things to run in oblivion... so this may be one of these...

VERSION 0.85 is online.

recent changes:
- fixed: auto-equip was broken. most NPCs equip their backpacks now.
- fixed: opening a dropped backpack opened another equipped backpack too.
- fixed: missing normal map for the fighters backpack

no need for a clean save...

Is it possible to use the backpack without giving up an equipment slot? I've had a look around for quite a while, and yours seems to be the best backpack mod, but I find the caveat of giving up my amulet slot rather too much...

I don't know how similar modding is between Oblivion and Fallout 3, but a friend linked me to this mod a while ago: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2553

Maybe there's something there that would help you in some way, be it coding or ideas.

If that madness is possible, then yeah! I don't yet have any amulets in my current save, but we all know that won't last long...
