Side Quest Suggestions?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:30 pm

I have a level 15 sneaky bow / magic user. I wanted to lay of the main quest for a while.

I didn't want to sift through the side quest on the wiki cause it spoils the twists and turns of each quest.

Any suggestions for side quest that would be beneficial for my character? I love exploring so any remote dungeons and ruins you can point my towards would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Darn it, typo in my topic and in the wrong section. :( Mods, could you move this to the hint and spoiler section please?

Hmm, let me try to be kinda subtle and non spoilery here. . . (I'll also ask that this be moved for you - FYI, the best way to do this is to simply report your own thread and ask our wonderful mods to move it for you). A couple of cool (and time-consuming) quests:

1. Go visit Weye and talk to the Altmer. Give her a kiss and ask about wine (well, ok, the kiss part is optional, but she's a retired courtesan and very, very good at her craft). Anyway, she'll send you off on a quest that will encourage you to investigate every fort you find.

2. Hop across the lake from where you exited the tutorial sewars and go into the Ayleid ruin. Find an item, sell it and wait to be contacted. Off you'll go to explore any more Ayleid ruins you can find.

These two quests are best approached from the perspective of 'the journey is more important than the destination' and are at their best when you relish the tons of time it can take if you don't look up which forts/ruins to go to.

EDIT: Yay! I see the thread has been moved. I think you have enough info above to enjoy those two quests. If you think you need to look them up in UESP wiki, they are called:
1. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:A_Venerable_Vintage.
2. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:The_Collector (first of a series of three related quests).

Profitable, dangerous and requires stealth... If you have a high enough fame (5) wait inside the Temple District to get an invitation to join the Order of the Virtuous Blood. This is one of the most lucrative quests in the game, if you do not kill the first vampire the Order sends you after.

1. Go to Bruma. I do not know the requirements, but at level 15, you should have sufficient fame. Hang around town. You'll meet a steward from Castle Bruma. Listen to what he is offering for milady. I think this quest along with the Collector Quest, are two of the best quests in the game.

I heard that about her too. She might even let you do more than just kiss her too.

While you are at Weye, talk to a man about some fish. Not the most interesting quest, but the reward is helpful if you find yourself swimming often.

You might also pop down to Bravil and ask around town. You will learn about a mysterious ghost who appears every night along the shore south of the city. Also visit to the Guild of Mages and speak to the Argonian in charge. She will put you on to one of the more unusual quests in the game.

I believe a certain Orc has recently taken to sulking about Castle Leyawiin and count Marius Caro is willing to make a most interesting offer to any who can discover what she is doing there.

Buffy would never forgive me if I didn't mention that one. :whistling:

Thanks guys, I get so overwhelmed with all the side quests, sometimes it is hard to just choose which ones to go after! Glad you guys helped narrow this down.

I've sunk so many hours into this game, and each time I start a new character there's still so much I've never done. Gotta love this game.

Thanks again for your helpful suggestions.
