Side Specific Weapons

Post » Fri Aug 06, 2010 9:46 am

I realize this has probably been asked, but I had a hard time searching for it.

But are any of the guns in the game specific to Security or Resistance?

Thanks in advance.

I dont think so. The Pre-order ones MIGHT be. Probably not but as far as I know there isn't.

Both the Caesar and Hockler appear to be reskins anyway.

But even if they aren't, the Devs have said they aren't faction specific. All guns have a skin for both sides.

If you're getting this from the same source I did (SD forum post referencing a post from an unverifiable source on Something Awful), I wouldn't call it reliable info. Unless something new has come up to back that post's legitimacy since I last checked?

But as the rest of your post (and several others) said...

No faction-specific weapons, pre-orders included. They're only showing the Security skin for the Hockler, and the Resistance skin for the Caesar, but there will be alternate skins for the opposite faction with each weapon. No worries.

Fallout Pack as an example! :D
Not sure if it's faction-specific though, maybe.

Yes, there is one version for each faction.

I've suspected it for a long time anyway. It didn't make much sense to me to have exclusive guns for just pre-ordering. To me there are two ways to look at it, they are either falsely implying that they are exclusive, or they don't have unique stats. They are careful to say that they are unique weapons, but they haven't ever said that the stats are different. This is less definite than their claim that they have no plans to release the packs later, though that still has a linguistic loophole.

The fact that someone who knows enough about the game to give us two unknown weapon names also backs up the claim was enough for me to start voicing my suspicion again.

He also happens to be named http://www.splashdamage.com/content/jamie-fishbus-manson. So its either someone impersonating a dev and making stuff up....or an actual Dev. And to me, the names given seem to fit SD's naming style, so it doesn't seem fake.
