Side walking and ladder animations

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 8:52 am

The reason i believe their in the game is that, they spent so much time making dragon animations, so it wouldn't be to hard to make these....

This is what i want to be fixed... "Sidewalking"............

I don't know about the side walking but there was a ladder in the scene in the trailer where the guy gets assassinated so I'm pretty sure we'll have that.

P.S. you spelled allowed wrong

I don't know what you mean by sidewalking. Do you mean strafing?

As for the ladders; I doubt there will be ladders in the game, but I could be wrong. They might have finally figured out how to implement them.

In beth games, the player always walked straight, back, left, and right.... Lets think of it as a compass.... To walk to the right and straight would mean your derection your pointing is North East...

Don't they already have a sidewalking animation in Oblivion?

And I don't really care if there's animations for climbing up ladders, sure it's realistic, but who knows the difficulty of implementing them in? Focus on other stuff ;)

I don't believe modders can do it either, unless I'm mistaken. (Yeah you can go up a ladder, but you just float up...)

Really? I'm pretty sure when my guy runs sideways, it's called strafing? (spelling?)

Isn't that what you do when you strafe?

If you face the way your feet is moving, I think you're considered running forward.

I sincerely hope that with all the modifications they made to the engine, and all the talk I've heard about it, that they'll be able to implement ladders.

OK in real life when you want to go one way, you face a certain direction right, but in beth games, your character just slid a way and was pointing another direction....

What?

When my character in Oblivion runs forward, he faces forward.

When he strafes, he runs side ways but looks forward, because that's what strafing is and it's present in Oblivion.

In Oblivion, your character always faced forward. In Skyrim, he now faces the direction of the camera.

.....what? as in moving diagonally?? why move diagonally when you can face that way and simply walk forward whats the need to have an animation to move diagonally
