James walked while overhearing Theo and Leon talking, sighed and said, "Theo, quit antagonizing people, do you want to be demoted even further? Oh yeah, you just don't care, do you?"

"Aren't anything else? You have to be kidding me? You haven't seen the things I have, you haven't done the things I have, you haven't been to hell and back like I have! You just grew up in some tribal village working under the sun all day. Now, i'd suggest doing a good job there, so you don't piss me off."

*Picks up the SAW.*

"Also, what are you going to with this?"

The captain, Khasar, smacked Ellie's hand down before she could fully salute. At first she thought she had done that the wrong way, but she soon found out she had forgotten the different set of rules for the trenches. She closed her eyes for a moment, listening for an order of punishment to be barked at her, like when she had been at boot camp. After a couple of seconds passed by with silence she opened her eyes and noticed Captain Khasar had already set himself to other matters.

Just as she turned around another one of her squad mates had entered the tent in a leisurely manner. Ellie quickly exited the tent when he started arguing with the Lieutenant. She tossed open the flap to the tent she slept in and grabbed the things she would need while in the trench, and then she tossed the flap back again as she exited. She felt slightly confused, no one had told her exactly what to do while in the trench besides defend. Not wanting to bother any of the higher ups she setup by a machine gunner.

James then walked out the door and walked around the trenches, the silence making him feel very uneasy. James saw the Private from before from before manning a machine gun. He got behind her and said, "So how'd someone of your rank end up here anyway? It's rather unusual."

Henry faced down Theo and said "I have faced down horrors you couldn't even dream of imagining it. You aren't in trouble yet, but you had better cut that attitude out or you will be soon." Turning to the lieutenant Henry said "you can take care of this guy," Henry configured his SCAR-L for tight close quarters combat and met up with his squad. Seeing James there he told him "Better keep an eye out for enemy raiders, the sun is setting and we'll be firing flares regularly,". Henry went over to the other mercs sitting around and briefed them on trench warfare. "If we are under bombardment, chances are the moment it stops the attack will come. Attacks will usually happen at dawn or at sunset. We'll be on standby at these times, otherwise the greatest threat is enemy raiding parties at night." Henry then waited for the lieutenant so that he could await for more specific orders. As he was waiting he joined into the conversation, "James is right, Spec-Ops units usually consist of NCOs and Officers, I would think that an engineer would be useful though. I guess that's why you're here."

*Calls Henry over*

"Seargant I want you tell the rest of the sqaud to get ready for enemy attack, seeing as though it'll most likely happen within minutes. While I take care of Farmer."

Ellie jumped slightly when her fellow squad mate spoke up from behind her. She turned as another added something about the squad needing an engineer, that being possibly one of the only reasons she was there.

"I'm not sure why I'm on this squad. I was given the transfer papers and dropped off at this tent a few hours ago," Ellie paused for a bit, then extended her hand to the first man, "Private Ellie Sanchez."

James grasped Ellie's hand and said, "Sergeant James Carter, pleased to meet you, Ellie."

"Yes sir" Henry turned to the troops and yelled "all right time for chit chat is over! We're going on full alert! Load your magazines and get ready for the fight!" Henry ran over to the MG nest and started digging and started strengthening his spot. "Sanchez! set up some razor wire!"

Khasar left them to it, a few of the regulars from the rest of the shields were scampering around as well. One even decided to pop his head over the trench wall to see what was going on. A few moments later a crack was heard and the man fell back down into the trench, a bullet wound through the head. Two women came up quickly and carried the corpse away, it would be burnt to stop diease spreading. Khasar was getting annoyed at the insuburdination. He would most likely learn the corpreal's name soon, but not for a good reason.

"Okay finish those defeneses quickly!" Khasar shouted. Khasar loaded the drum magazine he had into the gun and cocked it. "Watch for their flamethrowers, and don't get shot, I rather no one died today." Khasar pulled back a flap from the trench wall and looked out of it, he could see shadows forming up on the other side. Khasar jumped back as a sniper round hit the wall next to him.

Khasar realised the bombardment stopped, "Okay, get ready!" Khasar orderedm, "Again, no heroics!"

Ellie followed SGT. Henry's orders. She made her way back to the supplies tent and pulled out a box labeled, 'Razor Wire'. The box must have weighed over seventy pounds, as Ellie struggled with it. After a few minutes of struggling and heaving she got it down to the trench and opened the box. Each end had an X shape at the end that the user could hold and not cut themselves. She staked one end into the ground, only allowing her head above the trench for a second. Then she grabbed the other end and began pulling it across the length of the trench. Each step the wire got lighter, relieving Ellie little by little. Not long after she had the other side staked in.

"Razor Wire is up, sir," Ellie said to Henry.

Ellie sat next to the machine gun nest, awaiting for further orders when she saw one soldier's head explode into a wave of blood. Not long after someone came and dragged the body off.

Is that how I'll die? Ellie wondered.

The attack would begin any moment now, Ellie could feel it.

Theo simply ignored Henry's comment, knowing he'd walk off afterwards. He knew the type. He also knew that his new lieutenant would want to establish the ranking order early on. That probably would have been a good idea with anyone but Farmer. "Okay, obviously somone has some sort of file on me if you already seen to know everything down to my favorite cereal." said Theo, keeping his arms crossed. "As for me, working under the sun all day is the least of what I've done." he said, leaning towards Leon "I went through seiges like this every weekend, or whenever the raiders deceided to have a go at us!" Farmer yelled before lowering his voice to its normal level. He wasn't one for screaming matches, just verbal assualt. "Then I got drafted to the BOS and fought muties every second of my life." Theo said before snatching his SAW back "and as for the SAW, its whats going to be mowing down any merc stupid enough to not but his head down when I start shooting, saving you the ammo."

*Leon thinking, I understand what he's been through, but it wasn't as rough as my past.*

"Alright, Farmer I understand. Get out of the tent, and get ready.."

*Pause.*

"Why do I even bother...? I know you won't listen to thing I say even if i'm your superior....."

*Leon walks out of the tent*

"Jones, is everyone ready?"

[OCC: I hope i'm not pissing any off on this RP. Since, this is like my first in quite a while..]

Henry got the defenses ready and said "Ok everyone! Gun down the enemy before they close enough to throw grenades at us! There isn't much more I can say other than to watch out for snipers." Henry opened his trench flap slightly to look at the enemy, then he heard a whistle and Officers shouting the unmistakable phrase.

"Over the top! Charge!"

Henry saw hundreds of shadows moving over the trench and towards him. Firing a flare out it confirmed what he just seen, the attack had begun. "OPEN FIRE!"

Khasar peered over the trench wall, watching the enemy run across the rough ground, alot of buildings had been demolished by both sides to clear spaces for trenches, but still alot of rubble ramained. Khasar placed his hand on a boy, looked only sixteen. Most likely one of the few who joined up expecting some fame, and maybe a fortune by looting the dead.

Gunfire was roaring all around, Khasar kept his finger off his thompson until they got closer. Khasar watched as they got closer, he lifted his gun up to his shoulder and looked down the sight, Khasar fired in short controlled burst at the enemy coming along. They seemed to be going from cover to cover to reduce casualties.

*Leon quickly dishevels his hair in a ponytail, that was sign he was ready for battle and to spill some blood.*

"Alright, soldiers spill some blood for the Silver Shields, and end this as quick as possible."

*He pull his assault rifle out, fires about 15 shots and kills 4 soldiers..*

*He crouches by the trench, reloads his gun..*

"This is going to be a long day..."

James pulled out his M4 and shot at the enemy soldiers, killing four. He said, "Is this what the First World War was like?", before reloading and stabbing an enemy soldier who'd hopped in the trench with his knife.

Henry was blazing away with his SCAR-L not even bothering to aim too much. There wasn't too much cover for the enemy and the attacking force was in a tight formation. Emptying his entire magazine he gunned down 10. Shouting to James he said "Yes this is just how it was, except they had a lot more people and a lot more artillery. Unfortunately it'll be the same for us if we try to attack them," Henry pulled out his shovel and bashed a soldier who got too close. "Keep fighting!"

"And, don't forget back in World War 1 they had poison gas."

*Leon gets out of cover in the trench and fires at a old car, the explosion kills 5 enemies..He then senses a hostile behind so he quickly pulls his old 21st Century USMC K-Bar and knifes the hostile.*

"C'mon men, push through. We have them!"

*He then sheathes his knife. Continues firing at hostiles.*

James decided to lead the charge and ran right at the enemy trench, bullets flying round him as he shot at enemy soldiers from behind a destroyed car. "Move foward!", he yelled as bullets ricocheted off his cover.

Although their orders were to defend, the enemy ranks were depleted right now and this was their chance to take back some ground. James took point and made good ground as he provided covering fire for the others. Henry ran as fast as he could (which was not as fast as James) and finally made it to the car. "There aren't that many of the enemies left, when they stop to reload, charge," Henry waited as they expended their rounds on the car and shouted "Now!" Henry made a run for the trench and got into the enemy trench and was greeted by a sniper who was surprised to see him. Henry stabbed him with the trench knife and finished him off with the spiked handguard. "James! If we're going to hold this trench we need to kill them and prepare for a counter attack as fast as possible!" Henry called for Ellie to get over to him so he could tell her to set up razor wire and what ever defenses she could make in a short period of time.

Khasar dropped down into the enemy trench, he was furious with Henry, "What in gods name are you doing!?" Khasar shouted at Leon, "Do not forget that I am commander here. Private do not follow that order." everyone back to the other trench." Khasar looked over to the next trench line of the enemies, he could see they were not prepared yet, if a counter attack happened they would be pushed back anyway, and casualties increased. "Everyone back to the other trench!" khasar ordered angryily. Khasar blew on his whistle, giving off three short sounds, signalling for them to fall back.

*Leon rushes to the other trench, as ordered.*

"Yes sir."

*He reloads his gun once more. Preparing for anything.*

Theo chuckled from his position in the trench as Leon was chastized as he had been before. After Leon had left the tent, Farmer had picked up the ammo box and headed into the trenches. His SAW had been responsible for preventing any enemy mercs from entering the part of the trenches he was in. Theo glanced over to the other soldiers, ensuring they still had ammo on them. He turned back frontwards and sent another barrage from the SAW. A large group of enemies dropped with bullets riddled across their chests, as the quicker thinking ones ducked behind some cover as the bullets kicked up the dirt where they had been standing. Farmer grabbed a grenade from where the sniper victim had fallen before, pulled the pin, and chucked it. The mercs scrambled out of cover as the frag exploded, sending shrapnel into their cover. Theo cleaned them up and checked the area in front of him. There was a temporary eb in the flow of troops on this side of the trench. With yet another cocky smile, he glanced back to the others, who were still fighting. Farmer saw Ellie and yelled "Hey, if your setting up the wire, start over here while its clear!" He reloaded the SAW, taking the empty string of bullets and threw them back towards hostile territory. He had underestimated the action he'd be experiencing with this new squad, and Theo could say he was happy about it.

Henry received his order and was frustrated "I know we're going to be overextended but I had my orders. With the absence of your orders lieutenant Leon's orders where all I had, that is all." Henry sabotaged all the enemy equipment he could find and pulled back with bullets on his heels. His plan was to gain more ground and push back the enemy, reducing casualties were not his intention. When Henry arrived he shouted "What the hell just happened out there! We had a total breakdown of the chain of command out there!" Henry had taken Leon's orders and had carried them out. "At this rate the Silver shields will get routed on every battle if we don't press our advantage and reduce all this confusion," Henry knew that they had a major disadvantage due to miscommunication. "However, despite the confusion we have managed to push the enemy back by striking at them and it will be some time before they can reorganize and resume their attack."
