Sierra Madre: New Beginnings (A Roleplay)

Current GMs: Lt. Andronicus, Dalek

In the years before the Great War, the Sierra Madre Casino was planned by Frederick Sinclair to be one of the most beautiful and luxurious casinos in the world. He used what was left of his very substantial fortune to ensure that no expense was spared, and that everything was just perfect. Even some of the latest technology from Big Mountain was included in the Casino's design: hard-light holograms, cosmic knives, and most importantly, the Sierra Madre vending machines.

All of this, however, was designed with one singular purpose in mind. A purpose which Sinclair kept secret to everyone but himself. The Sierra Madre was to be not only a resort, but a veritable fortress; designed to keep himself and his then lover, Vera Keyes, safe from the approaching doom that was the Great War of 2077. A purpose that would be tested the moment the Casino opened.

On the night of October 23rd, 2077, the Sierra Madre was scheduled to officially open in the grandest of fashions; with a huge Gala Event, which would be a night to remember for all involved. It turned out, however, to be a night of absolute horror, as the Great War struck the same night; bringing death in its wake, as the Sierra Madre turned on its guests. The Casino and Villa became a massacre as the Cloud flooded the area, holograms turned hostile, and the infamous Ghost People first began to show signs of what they would eventually become.

As a roleplayer, you will play as either a member of the Sierra Madre staff, or a guest at the Sierra Madre itself during the Gala Event, and the aftermath of the Great War's arrival. The roleplay will begin in the idyllic setting of the pre-war world, and will quickly devolve into a fight for survival as the Sierra Madre comes crashing down. You will need to overcome the dangers, traps, and obstacles in the post-war Sierra Madre Casino and Villa, and survive as long as possible in this world; with a new beginning for all.

CURRENT RPers

1. Trey Labhart (Gingy)

Spoiler

Name: Trey Labhart

Background: Trey graduated from college with a degree in business, with ambitions of becoming an economical pioneer, but, however, due to lack of available jobs, he became a construction worker for several years. Eventually, because of his business sense, he was able to become an independent contractor. He has led a fairly normal life, is unmarried, and does not have many ambitions of his own, except to continue working. When the plan to build the Sierra Madre was set into place, Frederick Sinclair requested his services with an offer that Trey could not turn down. As of now, he is in the service of Sinclair, as long as he continues to be paid. He regularly conducts maintenance, some shipping matters, and construction around the Sierra Madre and its surrounding Villa.

Age: 28
Appearance: Quite tall, at a height of 6'2". He has a normal-yet-fair looking face. Also, due to years of heavily working, Trey has built a considerable amount of muscle and a decent tan. However, he has slightly noticeable acne scars, which lightly line his lower face.

Occupation: Independent Contractor
Weapons: Trey does not have any conventional nor practical weapons in his possession. However, with that being said, he has a numerous amount of tools in his possession which could be used as weapons.

2. John Warshington (PlayerFormallyKnownAsEddy)
Spoiler

Name: John Warshington
Background: John was born on July 17th, 2042. He lived his childhood and teenage years in Portland, Northwest Commonwealth. He got average grades in school and was rather unremarkable. He attempted to enlist in the Army when the Chinese invaded Alaska, but failed because of two D.U.I.s. Two years later, now 26, he successfully enlisted in the National Guard. He severed for four years, being deployed in Canada along the Alaskan Pipeline for two tours. He was stationed in the northern portion of the pipeline and saw little combat. He was honorably discharged in 2072. On his way home he stopped to buy a several lottery tickets. One of them was a winner for 900 million dollars (adjusted for inflation, I think that would be a lot relatively). Needless to day he was elated, and invested it in the West Tek. Within a year it almost doubled due to West Tek's success in getting the Pan-Immunity Virion Project from the U.S. Government. With this new money, John played the dying stock market for several years, earning much more. While he insists that it's all legitimate, many doubters and critiques believe he used less then legal means to making the money. At 35, he was very wealthy, attending many parties and events for the very rich. He also put some money towards the establishment of the Sierra Madre Casino. Because of that, he was able to obtain a ticket to the Gala for a reduced price. Being an acquaintance of Frederick Sinclair, he was allowed to keep his 10MM Pistol, from which he got from his time in the National Guard.
Age: 35
Appearance: By the looks of him, you would have never guessed he was in the National Guard. He is tall, standing at 6 feet, 1 inch. He is thin and lacks any muscle. His hair is brown, and is grown down to his eyebrows.
Clothing/Armor: He lacks any type of armor. Instead, he has an all black suit with a blue undershirt topped off with gold rimmed, mirror aviators and a black fedora which he chose to wear for the Gala.
Occupation: He is a stock trader/investor.
Weapons: He has one 10MM pistol and two hundred rounds in his room.
Misc. Items: A voucher for 1,000 SM chips, 1,000 US dollars, a package of high-end cigars, and a solid gold lighter with the numbers 13 inlaid (the numbers are of ivory).

3. Lt. William Tennor (Lt. Andronicus)

Spoiler

Name: (Lieutenant) William Tennor

Background: William was born and raised in the State of Arizona. The youngest son of a very wealthy family, his father was an important state senator with an immense amount of political clout. While the rest of his Brothers and Sisters went off to become stock-brokers and politicians in their own right, Williams father believed they should have at least one military man in the family: to garner military supporters for votes. As such, he packed his son off to an officer’s academy and had him enlisted in the U.S. Army. William performed remarkably well at the school and was soon afforded the rank of Lieutenant after graduation, at which point he was immediately sent up to Alaska to take part in Operation Reclamation. Due to his father’s influence however, William was relegated to the side-lines of the war in a comfy office position, where he stayed for the remainder of the conflict. During this time, he gathered around himself a gang of like minded officer friends and it was here that they spent the Sino-American war: drinking fine champagne every night and relaxing in comfort on the base.

When the Alaskan conflict came to an end, William was discharged to head home while the war continued to rage overseas. Satisfied with his sons contribution to his campaign efforts, Williams’ father managed to get him the cushy and high paying position of Chief of Security at the Sierra Madre thanks to the senator’s work in helping Sinclair skirt some laws to finish the Casino.

Along with many of his military friends who now make up a portion of the Sierra Madre Security guards, William does his job well enough. Although to the annoyance of some of the older guards under him, he likes to play the part of a veteran military officer and “reminiscence” about his days on the Alaskan front with his pals.

Despite this though, he is relatively well trained in firearms and combat, and perhaps has the potential to be a true officer if the time comes to prove himself.

Age: 26

Appearance: Clean cut with dark brown hair and eyes. He has a decent build from his time in the military, although he’s gotten a bit pudgier since the end of his military service.
Clothing/Armor: Sierra Madre Combat Armor and Helmet.

Occupation: Head of Security for the Sierra Madre

Weapons: He carries a 9mm side arm and has access to a variety of weaponry at the security armory. His “primary” weapon is an Assault Carbine.

Misc items: Various luxury items, some cigars and a lighter, and a military officer’s ring which he wears all the time.

4. Aliander Weiss (Dalek)
Spoiler
Name: Aliander Weiss
Background: Aliander was born to a prominent family in the district of Grünwald in Munich, Germany. As the world economy slowly soured and tensions arose between the tightly-knit nations of Europe, the Weiss family had relocated several times before finally moving to the United States, where Aliander lived out the majority of his life. It was when Aliander was only 7 years old, in the year 2037, that he saw less and less of his parents, as they were frequently away on business; working for General Atomics International. Essentially, Aliander was raised by his parents' assistants, nannies, and the up-and-coming models of Mister Handy. As Aliander came of age, he took an interest in design and engineering, studying the machinations behind his robotic parents. However, his biological parents snuffed out this interest, refusing to have a "grease monkey" for a son. He later took this interest in design and applied it to the fashion industry, where he made his own fortune in 2052 by founding Weiss Form, just as the Resource Wars began. Though Aliander's business had become a household name by the year 2065 (being quite reminiscent of the long-dead "Prada" and "Gucci" brands of the early 2000's), growth had stagnated as the New Plague spread, and fears of nuclear meltdown in New York City had become apparent. By this time, the Weiss brand had industrialized, and became a branding not only for high fashion, but also for military/scientific uses -- in which Weiss Form designed the infamous "Ghost People" hazmat suits, by Big MT. With this, Aliander soon came into contact with Frederick Sinclair, through their mutual agreements, and was invited to design for what Sinclair called his "future" self-sustaining community of the Sierra Madre.

Age: 47 (Born June 16th, 2030)
Appearance: Aliander is approximately 5'10" with a lean physique. He is very slim-looking, with a dior homme body, and has pale white skin, with gray eyes and dark black hair to match. He walks with a type of aristocratic carelessness that many of the Sierra Madre's more privileged guests see as a confident stride, whereas the less illustrious see it as a brute rudeness -- as if he "didn't have time for anyone, or anything".
Clothing/Armor: He is sporting the latest in his product line, a thick dark-colored coat, with fine silver buttons down one side. It turtlenecks and blends into his dark form fitting pants, and leather boots with the same silver accents. It is incredibly high in fashion, taste, and design. The Gala Event was to serve as a reveal of his new clothing line to the world; with a fashion show scheduled just as the Gala began.
Occupation: Founder of Weiss Form, a leading U.S.-based high fashion company that has nearly monopolized the fashion industry in all the Americas, with the downturn of the world economy due to the Resource Wars of April 2052.
Weapons: None so far.
Misc. Items: A Sierra Madre chip complimentary voucher, worth up to 1,000 redeemable Sierra Madre chips. A guest map of the Sierra Madre casino and villa, highlighting leisure points of interest and emergency protocols.

7. Stuart Worthington (Tandiman1)

Spoiler

Name: Stuart Worthington

Background: Stuart was born in NYC in 2043 to a stock broker and the UK’s ambassador. His father, Charles Worthington used some of his political pull to get himself a house and a marriage to an American, Lily Greer. This resulted in a loveless marriage though, as the only reason they were married was to strengthen the two superpowers’ relations.

Stuart ended up hating his mother for her cold manner and obsession with spending things, instead moving towards his father who shaped him in his own imperfect image. Although Stuart did prefer his father to his mother, he soon grew cynical, and moved out at the age of 18.

Determined to show he didn’t need his powerful parents to be successful, he went away to England for a while. Stuart studied at Durham after being accepted on what he thought was his own merit, but was only his father trying to avoid an incident. Stuart did indeed prove he was quite smart though, and made a name for himself as an architect.

He did many different projects, even the rebuilding of the Notre Dame after it was bombed! He enjoyed being able to build complex, beautiful structures until 2070, when work finally ran out and people decided they could better spend their money on hard, concrete houses instead of the art-deco abodes Stuart designed. This sent him into a slump, until he was hired by Frederick Sinclair to build what would be considered his masterpiece for years to come.

Age: 34

Appearance: Stuart has grown tanned from his time in Arizona designing the Sierra Madre. He stands at 5”10 and is Caucasian, if lightly tanned. Misc Items: As head architect Stuart has keycards to all areas of the Sierra Madre. Stuart has a voucher of 1000 chips just so he doesn’t have to bother asking the accountant for more every time he gets hungry, along with that he has a picture of the Notre Dame, a few business cards, a cheap lighter he got in case of need, and a flashlight after the last time he was trapped in the sewers.

8. Michael Marston (Mouzone)

Spoiler
Name: Michael Marston

Background: Michael in most ways had a completely unremarkable childhood, growing up in California in the way most every other child was raised. He was one of the two children that belonged to his family, which was a typical nuclear family, his sibling being his elder sister. He went to school and was often given chores by both his parents, his father making him help with practical more work related things whilst his mother tried her hardest to help her son grow intellectually by means of making him keep a journal of his own experiences and things such as that.

Unlike some other children and teenagers Michael actually found himself enjoying school, though not for the lessons they tried to teach him but rather the life's lessons that he gradually taught himself. To him his whole life was a lesson so the life experiences he had at school were always far more valuable to him than anything else he could get in school. Although there was one lesson he always seemed to enjoy; English Literature. It didn't take Michael long to realize he had a knack for creative writing, and that he thoroughly enjoyed it.

By the age of sixteen Michael had decided that he wanted to be an author. To him it seemed like the perfect job, he would need to experience various things for research, which he loved the idea of anyway and he would get to make money for doing what he believed he would likely always be passionate about. As soon as Michael left school at age eighteen he had decided he was going to travel, he gathered up all the money he could, said his goodbyes and set off to what he thought would be an exhilarating journey across America. It had it's moments, but it wasn't exactly non-stop adrenaline.

By the time he was twenty three years old Michael had done a crazy amount of traveling and had worked dozens upon dozens of small-time jobs in order to fund his traveler lifestyle. It was around twenty three that Michael decided to go home and finish the book he had been working on for the last few years whilst traveling. Upon getting home, he did finish the book, and a good few more after it. His books were both criticized and praised for being daring in terms of what was acceptable, they were often explicit both in terms of violence in the adventure novels he wrote and sixual explicitness in the one romantic novel he wrote. His pushing of the acceptable norms when it came to literature quickly pushed him to stardom. Because of this he was invited to the opening of the Sierra Madre and quickly accepted, eternally yearning for more life experiences.

First being that he wanted to help people get their break from the world every now and then, as it was never easy living in this world, which brought him to seeking a career of a bartender. Moving first into design and then planning; by 2072 he was working directly for the Joint Technical Intelligence Committee, specifically operating against the United States for which his dislike of was renown. He never married, being largely committed to the job and entirely so when his parents were killed in a chemical-refinery disaster.

It was his command of the French language that saw his initial move into the realm of field-investigations, or at-least supporting proper overseas agents, but his fervent dispassion for the United States would frequently take him across the seas with the Joint Intelligence Committee taskforces. It is such operation that has lead him to the Sierra Madre's grand-opening, information having fallen into the MoD's hands of significantly advanced technology being utilised by the casino; believing that the grand opening and unveiling of these devices was likely planned as a technological propaganda coup by the US Government. Albert is tasked with collecting first-hand intelligence on their operation, securing - if possible - details of their design and potential sabotage in the process.

Being the son of two celebrities and extremely talented in his own right, he had no trouble getting cast for various roles, his charisma and good looks drawing in all the right people, who in turn capitalized on him and turned him into a household name.

Despite this general warm-hardheartedness however, he does have a bit of a snobbish side to him. Since birth, he has lived in the lap of luxury, so he does not truly know how the lower class lives, nor does he care to find out. He likes where his is in life, his extravagant lifestyle, and all the fame, which translates into his sympathy for the lower caste of society only going so far; to the point he cares for the lower class, but if he was asked to live like them, he would without hesitation decline.

12. Owen Moorhouse formerly Clyde Anderson AKA Killer Clyde/Cherry Wood Chopper/Patient 88 (tundrafrog1124)
Spoiler
Name: Owen Moorhouse formerly Clyde Anderson A.K.A. Killer Clyde/Cherry Wood Chopper/Patient 88

Background: Clyde Anderson was born in upstate New York to a wealthy C.E.O. and his equally wealthy wife. The Anderson family was the biggest name in nuclear power at the time and Clyde’s father; Stefan Anderson was the fifth wealthiest man in the world. Clyde had a sister named Amelia and together they were raised like royalty, every wish was granted no matter what. Yet all was not perfect in the Anderson household, Stefan was an alcoholic and a tyrant who frequently beat Clyde’s sister and mother. Clyde was beaten severely if he ever tried to stop his father, because of this Clyde learned to never stand up against his father. Yet every night Clyde would stand outside of his father's room and watched him sleep holding a knife. He would latter remark that the only thing that kept Clyde from "doing justice" was the voice of Issac who told him to wait. This progressed until the Christmas of 2037 when Stefan went off angrier and drunker than usual, Stefan [censored] and beat his daughter Amelia to death while Clyde watched; in court testimony Clyde would say that, that Christmas was when his "World went black". Stefan had lied to the public saying that Amelia was killed in a hit and run outside of the mansion's grounds, he received sympathy for the public and sent the Cherry Wood police on a useless snipe hunt for the "Killer". Stefan became worse after the death of Amelia and began to abuse the house workers and Clyde more than he had before, the entire Anderson household lived in perpetual fear of Stefan and his drunken rages. Few tried to stand up to him as they feared death. It is guessed that around this time is point where Clyde had trouble holding onto reality.

The following years would see Clyde began to have behavior problems, he was frequently suspended from school for fights and spent his free time throwing lavish parties and engaging in drunken brawls. six, drugs and sadist fights were what Clyde spent his time doing. Never having a job or responsibilities of his own Clyde took no responsibility for his depraved acts. All of Cherry Wood knew of Clyde and his demented parties and appetite for the bizarre and twisted. Clyde was arrested several times for possession and assault but his father made sure he served no jail time despite Clyde's pleas to be kept inside the police station. His father had become paranoid and began to hire thugs to enforce his rule in the surrounding area and the mansion staff of maids, cooks and servants. Clyde frequently was mentally and physically abused as he never tried to defend himself.

As Clyde got older his interests became more and more depraved, as the age of eighteen Clyde killed his first person a girl from his school. He took her out to a movie then beat her to death with a tire iron, Clyde then dumped the body in the woods. This was Clyde’s first taste of murder but it would not be his last, about a month after the disappearance of Sarah Parada; a killer known as the Cherry Wood chopper began to appear. The killer had a habit of hacking at his victims even if they were already dead often times using a cleaver. He was also seen to wear a simple mask made from a burlap sack. The town of Cheery Wood suffered greatly from the masked killer over the years dozens of people were killed; sometimes the murders were within hours of each other sometimes months apart. The killer struck at random killing anyone he felt was necessary. Clyde was the Cherry Wood killer and as he killed more and got older he felt his mask of sanity begin to slip and he knew he could not contain it much longer.

At the age of twenty three Clyde “snapped”, in a four day blood lust Clyde murdered his father with a meat clever and hunted down the maids and butlers of his childhood home. Some were found partially skinned others dismembered beyond recognition. Clyde’s mother had been in England at the time to see her boyfriend, she returned a widow and the entire state was hers. Clyde was found by police officers asleep in the gutter in Queens New York a week after the massacre at the Anderson Mansion. He had butchered a young couple and several others within the city limits in the past week, becoming known as Clyde the Killer. New York city was put on martial law in search of him and the national guard was called out in the hunt.. He was arrested and tried in court, upon finding the burlap mask with him he was then also tried for the Cherry Wood murders but due to his crimes and reasoning for them was found not guilty by reason of mental defect and sentenced to spend the remainder of his life in Mayes mental hospital in upstate New York. Clyde has spent the last five years there until he escaped from his cell and butchered several orderlies and guards in a two day manhunt.

Since then Clyde has been removed from Mayes mental hospital and sent cross country to the San Ives institute for the criminally insane; a max security insane asylum in Arizona.

When he was 17 his parents were killed on a cruise ship in Europe, a rogue battleship from one of the European powers had attacked the ship, sinking it and killing all on board. Adam was stricken with grief for losing the only family he had and instead of going to law school like his father wanted, turned to a life of crime. At first he hit small targets, gas stations, convenience stores, anything that was small and could turn a profit, then he started to think big. 2 years later he robbed a bank downtown and made it out clean, the total take was $31,089,059. When his crew was dividing up the money, Adam saw a shot and took it, killing the other two men and dumping their bodies in a landfill outside of town, he kept all the money for himself and set to work.
Adam bought up several gas stations around town, the same ones he had robbed years before actually, and began to build himself an empire. He invested what was left of the money ruthlessly and brilliantly, by buying up stocks and killing off certain people he was able to buy stakes in one of America's largest oil companies, which he eventually bought out and created Sullivan Oil. As the new CEO of Sullivan Oil he managed to grease several palms in Washington and New York and had the cost of gas drove up to $9.00 a gallon. With his connections he was able to sell at $7.50 a gallon and had the people flocking to his cheaper gas in droves, with his competitors unable to keep up. With all the business he was taking from other companies he was able to buy up oilfields in Colorado, New Mexico, and Alaska. He became a national celebrity with magazines and newspapers referring to him as "America's Oil Man" and "The Black Gold Billionaire" earning him a place in several exclusive social circles. It was there that he met Frederick Sinclair who needed people with the right type of money to fund a new project of his, a casino isolated in the mountains, The Sierra Madre. With the recent upheaval around the world and the current situation in Alaska, Adam needed a backup plan, a place to seek refuge if the worst came to pass.
