Sigh Ctd's After Clean Install And Fcom

ARRRGH I cant believe it! CTD's after i hit new game. Ive just finished doing a full FCOM set-up i followed the 50 steps to CTD free game with FCOM+++, Dev_AKM's guide on his website(to lazy + distressed to get link) and installed FCOM. i installed in the same order, cleaned using the TES4 EDIT, used boss to set order, moving unrecognized files to right position, following BOSS's suggestion whever possible, ran TES4 LodGen, rebuilt my bashed bash. i then moved to the step of deactivating all mods and starting a new save to introduce all the mods 1 at a time so i wouldnt get problems from installing piles of mods at once in a new game. sp i deactivated all but Oblivion.esm and loaded the game through OBSE v18b6. all ran fine, saw my nice new DARN UI font, chose new and blam. CTD. any ideas whats happening or what to do? thx

Try regenerating your INI. Not getting to the main menu is often related to that, not rebuilding your bashed patch, missing masters or delinquent masters. If you are running OSR, check the INI settings there too.

i can get to the menu, just when i click new game it crashes. i think i may have found the problem though ill brb

never mind it didnt work. i reinstalled my OBSE plugins, which i was missing the component DLL's for OSR which i thought was the problem. so i re-extracted them all, and regenerated my .ini. restarted, got to the main menu, clicked new game and blam CTD once again. and as im typing this i just realized i forgot to redo DARN UI again. brb

edit: alright i did that and still crashes when i click new game. any ideas what to do now?

You deactivated all your mods?

Maybe you added some resources that require one of the ESPs to be active.

Activate the base FCOM install and see if that has any effect.

Hi ,

Im first post you said.. " rebuilt my bashed bash. i then moved to the step of deactivating all mods and starting a new save....."

When you undid all your Mods to go into Game Did you also UNdo the bash Patch? That would Be a problem IF you left that on and Tried to start the game .

So ...make sure the bash Patch is not loading at first ..then when you have a save to use, you can start to add mods and Bash when Necessary.

It would help to post your load order. A crash upon loading a new game really sticks out as a load order problem to me.

it doesnt make sense to be a LO issue though, nothing is activated. i only got this through turning them on but they're being deactivated again now. it makes it to the main menu without a hitch, i can see my DARN UI font and all, it play the map loop, it plays the start-up music, etc. it only CTD's after i click new game, which the loading screen flashes for a sec then it crashes.

MMM.BSA is named correctly right..

FCOM_Convergence_Mart's Monster Mod.bsa

Franscesco bsa are getting loaded has well.

Start a new game without any mod activated does it still happen..

it's a on a clean install, so no games saved yet. both are named appropriately though (BSA wise). no mods activated and it crashes when i click new game

This is gonna sound way out there ...Could you post the FONT section of your INI?

Have a look in the Font Folder And make sure All the fonts that are in your INI are really in the Font Folder.

I did have this same thing when ONE of the fonts was missing, the load screen would show but would crash promptly after.....


EDIT

I Dont see in the OP what you used to install these mods...OBMM, BAIN, or just extracting to the Data Directory?

This is from MY INI When Ever i make a change the Original is commented out like so .....So to change it you just move the ~ to the other ones...

So in this sample you would want the ones with the ~ (tilde) same as console Key (Dont use MY Darn Fonts this was to Show is all....)

That still Leads Me to Believe the fonts are not really Present...Go to the Folder are the Fonts really There? When you click on the font folder what files do you see?

Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\fonts

IF you dont have a font folder..we have found the Problem!!!

Edit....When your folowing the Guide dont panic when you can't Reload the game after Frans, and Before the end of the FCOM part Get the Stable FCOM done. Then Start adding Mods.. Im at 187 Mods and can Play for hours on end using 3.8 gig of mem and 4 cores. These Guys Here ROCK!!

there is a fonts folder but there is only 10 fonts and i believe DARN has more than that i believe. prob found in my mind thx again!

2 files for each it looks like ...a .fnt & a .tex file for each one. and there Exactly the Same names that were in your INI?

A differant # would mean a differant font...say your INI was asking for size 14 and in there (the folder) is say 16 then it would have a problem.
