I sign. I think this is a great game! Going to keep me busy when I am out of school for semester break and don't have work every single day!

I wonder if this will get closed. Probably not because it's positive rather than negative feedback and Bethesda likes to censor negative feedback.

Negative feedback only gets closed when flame wars erupt and things get out of hand. As long as its constructive criticism and not multiple threads of the same topic, then the mods let the threads run through.

Best Elder Scrolls game? Yes and no.

Combat. Yes. More visceral, precise and third person is better than ever.

Questing System. Worst. I miss actually searching for stuff instead of being handheld to it. Turning off compass goes a long way. But you cannot turn off everything as journal doesn't offer sufficient information anymore.

Dialogue. Best voice acting. But too few choices anymore.

Its an awesome game, with loads of play value, but its not without its issues. Some of these issues are critical. And some of these issues rear their ugly head in every installment of the series. Bethesda need to solve these someday, because it cannot keep up.

It's the best in its own age... Just like Oblivion was the best when it came out. You can't really compare them. I mean, every TES is approximately the best it can be, they all just need a couple of gameplay fixes. As for gameplay quality...yes, I suppose this one is the best, but that's just evolution. :) Unlike Crusader or Heroes franchise, these guys do evolve their product.

I think quest variety is there..and the number of quests is greatly improved. I for one like the fact that it directs you somewhat to your quest. What is the difference if they tell you via journal entry or via map?

I'm absolutely loving it but I haven't finished the main quest yet. I'm pretty sure my answer will be an unequivocal yes but I'd rather wait until I finished the game. I love Oblivion but I expected Skyrim to surpass it in almost every way and I think it has.

I liked search for them with the vague information they gave me information. South of X place could mean several locations.

In Skyrim, I just have an arrow pointing me straight to the proper door/cave. There's no real exploration or search to it.

Its not THAT bad though, and yes there is good variety to questing. TES quests still arent always very good, but that's been true to the whole series. I think what hurts them the most is the awkward way the game plays out. Characters being terribly stiff, movement being terribly robotic. But this is a problem with the entire series. I think its just becoming more and more obvious because the graphics are more realistic.

People expect more. Though we tire of the SAME quests, there is only really so much variety to offer a game of this type as far as quests go. Think about it..if we had really wacky quests in the game, unusual or just strange, people would be flaming that as well..calling them stupid or saying they make no sense or have no plot..yada yada..See what I mean though? You have to work within the reasonable confines of what your given. :) People expectations and anticipation of what a game will be always fall short of what is possible in making a game. My grandma always used to say "Anticipation is greater than reality" and she was right.

had to go no because i don't really think there IS a best TES game. It's an ongoing saga in which each installment both adds and subtracts, both good AND bad qualities, to the totality of the saga.

This is the first game though I didn't play my initial archetypical character from game to game, a Dunmer Mercenary who's even aged aesthetically since Daggerfall....but he's next in line :P. Just had to give an Orc a go this first time through...because they finally look, for lack of a better term, beautiful. Not in the classical sense of beauty, but more in the sense of time and care actually went into their design this time through instead of just making them look like a generic beastial race.

In my experience so far, it's one of the best I've ever played, RPG or otherwise, on console.

Excluding graphics and game mechanics

I'm with Keegus up above, there is no "best" for me either. For it to be "best" in my book, it would have to include elements of Morrowind (weapons and stats), Tomb Raider (character animation), Assassin's Creed (cities packed with more NPCs, and Oblivion (spellmaking, stats, all stuff that's missing from Skyrim), which of course is impossible. I know this.

Make your own game and make 1 billllllllllion dollars!!! (puts pinky up to mouth like Dr. Evil)

Le Bump--After 55 hours, I'm still only level 20 and loving the game. Thanks Bethesda!

<3 Bethesda. I feel they made some big mistakes in the release (and what followed), but I also think this is one of the most fun games I ever played, so ultimately I don't care and will stay a true fan.

Edit: voted 'maybe' because I definetly like this one better than Oblivion, but not sure about Morrowind...

If you are "signing" something, doesn't that make this a petition? Though its not aimed at actually doing anything, so why bother "signing" it?

Silly thread is silly.

I think that Skyrim is a general improvement over Oblivion but still not quite as good as Morrowind.
