Significance of Talos in Skyrim

Post » Sun Oct 16, 2011 12:46 am

Hey guys! New member, long time ES fan here. Just wondering what your thoughts are on the Talos Shrine/dead woshippers info (from I believe "Crustacean")? It would be interesting to see if this has anything to do with the MQ plot seeing that Tiber Septim has a history in Skyrim (withstanding the Greybeard's voice and having learned it himself). Speculations?

I wouldn't want someone else's warship in my country either.

On a more serious note, banning worship/religion hasn't been very effective, historically speaking. At least not over the short term.

Yea, look at all the daedric shrines sprouting over cyrodil and causing minor chaos on poor innocent villagers :D i particularly liked quests where i got to overturn the villager's lives, made me feel like some kind of semi-god :D

Talos founded the empire. He was mortal, and then became divine.

The current family of rulers, the Medes, took over the empire sometime after the Oblivion Crisis while it was in shambles. They're essentially trying to erase the past rulers out of history.

i suspect it was mostly a political move made by the new emperor to distance the new empire from the septims.

I'm not impressed by the new dynasty of Emperors, it may just be enough to shift my support to the Stormcloaks.

Except for the fact that the new empire sacrificed one of its legions To save the fleeing orc civillians

The worship of Talos has been banned throughout the Empire, the current rulers of Tamriel, the Medes, took over the empire sometime after the Oblivion Crisis while it was on the verge of crumbling, what they're essentially doing, is trying to erase the past rulers out of history.

The fact that they have banned worship of the founder of the Septim dynasty and third era tells me they have no respect for their predecessors and come across more as tyrants than rulers, I am in favour of an Empire however I am unimpressed by the Medes so far, we shall see.

Not sure if the gods will favor this decision...one in particular.

with the nords being my favorite race since the dawn of the series, if i can i will make it so people can worship talos again (the nord made divine)
if that means going against the new empire so be it (also i always liked the septims and the medes are basically desecrating their legacy)
