Where is the lever or chain to bring down those five spikes after killing the death lord

It's a pullchain on the wall behind the boss chest, to the upper left of it.

And it is really sad that I knew exactly what you were talking about...I've been stuck so many times in that level, it really has bad placement and lighting for its switches, levers, and pullchains.

Say you're looking straight at what's blocking you.

Look to your left, there is a small window like thing. The handle will be right there.

In every other dungeon, maybe, but not in Silverdrift. The programmer(s) creating that level must've had a really bad day while making that one.
