Simple Essentials Question...

Post » Fri Dec 17, 2010 1:21 am

The F'n jump key.

Nobody ever mentioned the jump key. My jump key is remapped onto a USB keypad. Those are pretty much the only buttons I never tried.

Well, blow me down.

In case you haven't found the empty bottles yet, they are in the misc part of the inventory (with repair hammers and the like). They work as the other bottles. Note that you only need 3 bottles to have a full drink status. I'm not sure it has been mentionned. If I understand the mod correctly, a 1 unit potion will restore 1 portion of your drink status. It's the same with food, so eating 1 pumpkin will be more than enough.

Turns out that the script won't fire if the jump key is set to any key on the Number pad. Any main keyboard key is fine, and any mouse key but the wheel up and wheel down works, but not the number pad.

I'm pretty sure it is an OBSE problem.

Yeah, that must be "oncontroldown" function problem - or rather a limitation than a problem. Hmm, I wonder if NUMLOCK toggling affects it?

From my testing, with NUMLOCK off the key reports as an entirely different key and Jump no longer works (like it's not bound to it anymore).

For my own game, I just switched the OnControlDown to 28 since that's bound to Mouse 4. I also reported the situation to the OBSE team so they could look into it.

Sorry for bringing this thread back up, But does this simple essentials take the current timescale into account?

Since this was bumped I should also mention that turning off Numlock on my keypad fixed most of my issues with OBSE. Oblivion doesn't care if Numlock is on or off, but OBSE does.

As for timescale, I'm pretty sure it does since I get hungry a lot faster on my horse in tamriel than wandering around a city or Oblivion plane, and I'm using Auto-Save and Time.

Does anyone have a current link to Skycaptain's Simple Essentials?
The link to other download (fastfreeuploader something or other) doesn't seem to work for me. I checked Nexus and couldn't find it there.
Although Shads Water Bucket mod is easily available on Nexus, I'd like to use it with Simple Essentials.

Thanks,

Tarl

The link (post 27 on this thread) is working for me. The mod is not available on TESNexus, and I'm pretty certain that the thread link is currently the only place where the mod is available. (There's nothing sinister about this, Skycaptain didn't want to upload a final version until he'd written a readme, daemodarque put a temporary link in this thread with Skycaptain's permission.)

Got it : ) Swear I tried twice before and it would not process the download for me.

Anyway, appreciate the reply. Yeah, I know Skycaptain is busy on his DF mod. So, no big deal if I couldn't get it. But, I'll try this until he finds some time to update it. Sounds pretty simple and nice.

Thanks,

Tarl

So I gather that to get empty water bottles I have to use up potions or alcoholic beverages to make water and then keep the empties?

If I have changed my default control keys, will it be something else besides the 'E' key?

Almost. You get waterbottles from potion bottles. Target a well or stand in a lake targeting the water, go into inventory, hover over a potion you don't need, then press the jump key. You will now have a full water bottle. So far as I know you can't hover over a wine bottle to make a bottle of water ( I may be wrong- worth checking it out). I keep a stock of about 20 waterbottles, full ones are in the potions menu, empty ones are in the misc. menu.

If you change the default jump key I beleive that the 'fill waterbottle' key will move with it. There's discsussion of this further up in this thread.

Thanks S'lider!

ADDIT: and if anyone is interested, there is also another "Basic Needs" mod I've played a lot with "Tyler's Hungry,Thirsty,Sleepy,Tired.

Discussion of it here:

I use "Space" key as my jump key.

I'm in Imperial City at the well across from The Gilded Carafe. I have several Meads, and Cheap Wines as well as many different potions in my inventory. I also went into Gilded Carafe and bought one "Potion of Alacrity" so I had at least one store bought not home made.

Run right up to the well so I cannot move, go into Inventory (F2 or J key for me) and go to potions. Hover over _any_ of the potions and hit the space key, and nothing happens. Hover over Cheap Wine and hit space key and a message popsup "I don't have any spare bottles."

Go fetch a variety of containers from the trash containers in the market (various jugs, pots, goblets, vases) and repeat. Nothing. Try hovering over those items, nothing.

I cannot figure out how to get empty bottles going. Maybe you can only get empty bottles from doing the procedure at body of water, not at a well?

ADDIT: maybe I have to be sneaking?

You might want to try Shads Water Bucket Plus. If I remember correctly, it works really well with Simple Essentials as far as getting water. Was highly recommended in a long thread about Simple Essentials (actually, it was about something else that the author of Simple Essentials did, but it got OT : )
Here is the link to nexus http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30087

Good luck with all that, I'm keeping an eye on all these threads to eventually start using some of them.
