Simple Loading Time Tip for PC users

Post » Thu Jun 12, 2014 1:52 am

This might be fairly obvious and some of you might have been doing this for some while now, so I apologize if this info seems lame.

I keep copies of my character saves in a seperate folder, as all PC users should, but recently I started only keeping a few saves for 1 character at a time in the Skyrim save folder. This simple change easily decreased my loading screen times at least by half. Just wanted to share!

Weird that it would change the timing of loading screens in game, unless you have Autosave features turned on. Which is not that good an idea really. Autosaves don't corrupt like they did in earlier games, but you can save yourself into a corner if that is all you rely on. I have all the Autosave features turned off and instead use manual slots only, and lots of them.

BTW, even with 1000 saves, the loading screens have no difference with autosave features turned off.

in one of my playthrough my save game folder size was over 2.7gb ( more than 250 save files ) with autosave feature turned on i always play with autosave on have a bad habbit of not saving game manually but never had a single infinite loading screen or long loading screen.
