Simple question about the .ini

Post » Sat Feb 12, 2011 2:49 am

I'm looking to change my game's default time scale. (I don't want to use the console every time I launch the game)

Default is 30, which makes it move 30 times faster correct? 1 makes it move normal paced, correct? *just checking*

I'm looking to set it to 6, so that one 10 seconds = one minute, 10 minutes = 1 hour, 4 hours = 1 day, 24 hours = 1 week, etc. I think this is the most fluid possible timescale personally. :)

I'm correct in thinking setting it to 6 would do that?

Anyways, I am assuming this requires editing something in the .ini? If not, what would I need to do in the CS so that it changes the timescale to 6 every time I launch the game?

I just don't want to go messing around and do something wrong in the .ini :lmao:

Nope it?s global variable, thus not an ini setting.

Just get a mod that changes it, so it loads every time, or make one yourself - all you need to do is to change that one global variable (there?s a clear menu with all globals in CS) and save the plugin as your new mod. :)

You don't have to set it every time you load a game. It will be in the savegame if you set it once. Only if you start a new game or if you quit without saving after changing it you'd need to type in the console again.

If you absolutely don't want to use the console you can alter the setting in the CS under gameplay>globals>timescale.

Okay thanks.

I'm sure I can figure it out.

New it'd be simple. ;o

There are several mods that allow you to set different timescales for different conditions (indoors, outdoors, sneaking, fighting)

And the bashed patch can set your timescale for you as one of it's options.

If you don't want either of those, I think you just need to open the CS with Oblivion.esm loaded, go to the "Globals" section and change "timescale" to 6. Then save it as an ESP and load it last.

I didn't want something over complicated, just something simple that I can do once and never think about again.

Thanks for your help everyone. :) I figured out exactly what I want. I made my own esp changing the timescale to 6, it was quick, simple, and effective. Exactly what I was looking for.

The console is the best option by far. Just open the console and type "set timescale to 10" if you want a timescale of 10, or any other value you want. Then, that will be stored in your savegame and be in effect thereafter, until you change it again. More flexible than a mod, and simpler.

Btw, if you want, you can also install a mod that automatically changes timescale depending on where you are/what you do. I have a high timescale when running around in the wilderness (40), but a low when being inside (6). That way the cities feel far apart, but I will be able to clean out one cave within a day.
