I play lots of different types of games (name a genre, there is probabaly a game in it i enjoy), and while I love games that have a great story or engaging gameplay mechanics, sometimes I just want to play something simple.. just something relaxing to play while i sit back with a beer and listen to a podcast or while listen to the evening news..



so I though I would make this thread, what are some simple and relaxing games you play when you are in such a mood?

for example, one of the games I used to play was Sim City 2000 when I was in such a mood.. lately though, i've been playing Chess

sims 3 did that for me. or solitare

I just activate the cheats in Mount and Blade: Warband with Anno Domini 2257 mod and conquer the whole Europe with the Kingdom of (some stupid random name) while I listen to the news channel. PC is next to the TV.

Harvest Moon, Yakuza games, Minecraft and GTA V. The last one sounds strange, but sometimes it's relaxing to drive fairly in legal speeds and just take a slow drive around.

Oh yeah, I also really enjoy relaxing to the Skyrim and Oblivion. The views some of the games' places offer are heart soothing.

Starbound is pretty relaxing. Depending on what you're doing. Same with Minecraft.

A lot of Sandbox games can be relaxing too if you're not taking them seriously. Just Cause 2 comes to mind.

There are several games like that for me. Some of them are far from simple, but my comfort level with the mechanics and game itself makes it simple and relaxing for me. One of my relaxing games is the first Dark Souls lol.

Other games are things like Civilization, Age of Mythology, Zelda(pretty much any of them) and Bethesda's games.
