Simplest newb question of all: how to ADD ITEMS to inventory?

Can't I just type something into the "console" to do this?

As you can see http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1080307&st=0&gopid=15733243&#entry15733243, I'm getting screwed out of the Poplar Hood due to a dialogue glitch. While I'm loathe to do it, I see no option other than to simply add the item to my inventory.

How do I do that?

Remember, I'm a newb; please be precise and assume I know nothing, cause that's pretty much the case -- I need simple step-by-step instructions.

Do I need to use the GECK, or can I just type something in and it appears?

(I'm on low bandwidth, so can't watch 20 YouTube tutorials just for this one simple thing. And "add item" won't work in the forum search; says the words are too small. WTF?)

THANKS!!!

Actually, I just tried it, but got the message:
Script command "Player" not found.

I typed it in as you listed it:
"Player,additem 5a6cb 1"

Also tried putting a space after the comma, but still got the error message... Will try a few more times...

Oh thats because he typo'd it. Its a period not a comma. Type this.

"Player.additem 5a6cb 1" without the quotes too incase you typed those. So player.additem 5a6cb 1

I do not have paypal, but I do have a mailing address :P
